The Hundred of Hoo Academy (formerly The Hundred of Hoo School) is a 4–18 Mixed-sex education, mixed, all-through school and sixth form with Academy (English school), academy status in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent, England. It is part of the Leigh Academies Trust. History In 2007, only 22% of the school's pupils achieved five or more General Certificate of Secondary Education, GCSE A* to C grades, including English and Maths. In 2008, it was one of forty schools in Kent and Medway ordered to raise this figure to the government target of 30% within three years, or face closure. In June 2009, the school was placed into special measures following an inspection by Ofsted. This led to the resignation of its principal Tony Williams, and Gary Holden, head of Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School, Rochester Math School, became executive head of both schools. Hoo St Werburgh
Hoo St Werburgh, commonly known as Hoo, is a large village and civil parish in the Medway, Medway district of Kent, England. It is one of several villages on the Hoo Peninsula to bear the name ''Hoo'', a Saxon word believed to mean "spur of land" or to refer to the "distinct heel-shape of the ridge of hills" through the settlement. Hoo features in Domesday Book, and had a population of 7,356 at the 2001 census, rising to 8,945 at the 2011 census. The civil parish includes Chattenden to the west. History Werburgh, St Werburgh was the daughter of Wulfhere of Mercia, King Wulfhere of Mercia, and niece of Æthelred of Mercia, King Æthelred, his brother and successor. The Education Act 2011 (c. 21) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Key Stage 5
Key Stage 5 is a label used to describe the two years of education for students aged 16–18 and at sixth form or college. The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is a school performance indicator in England linked to the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) results.
