The Homely Girl
''The Homely Girl'' (Hungarian: ''A csúnya lány'') is a 1935 Hungarian comedy film directed by Béla Gaál and Henry Koster and starring Pál Jávor, Lili Muráti and Ella Gombaszögi. The film marked Muráti's debut and launched her career as a star.Ostrowska, Pitassio & Varga p.58 It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Márton Vincze. It has plot similarities to Koster's 1933 German film '' The Ugly Girl''. Synopsis To gain revenge on the lawyer Halmi Tibor who unfairly laid the blame for an incident on her in court, the attractive Éva disguises herself as an uglier version of herself and gains employment in his office. She alternates between her two versions, one of whom he has fallen in love with. Things come to a conclusion on a trip to the Italian resort of Abbazia on the Adriatic. Gyula Gózon (19 April 1885 – 8 October 1972) was a Hungarian actor and comedian. Life Gyula Gózon was born on 19 April 1885, in Érsekújvár, but grew up in Esztergom. With the mentoring of his brother, he could fulfill his dream of learning to be a singer actor at the actor school of Szidi Rákosi in Budapest. After graduating, he joins a group touring the southern part of the country, often working under harsh conditions, changing location and repertory often. During this period he has the chance to polish his prosaic capabilities, one that was omitted in Rákosi's school. After playing in Târgu Mureş and Miercurea Ciuc, he gains the attention of Miklós Erdélyi, the director of Oradea's theater, who offers him contract in 1904.
