The Hit (1981 Film)
''The Hit'' (also translated as ''Blockbuster'', ) is a 1980 made and 1981 released Czechoslovak comedy musical film directed by Zdeněk Podskalský. It featured several popular contemporary Czech performers, including singers Waldemar Matuška, Jiří Korn, Hana Zagorová, and Jiří Schelinger, in his last film appearance shortly before his tragic death, by drowning in the Danube river. Plot summary Ambitious director Kohoutek takes on a film script set in a contemporary village and intends to turn it into a spectacular star-studded musical. He promotes his vision both against the opinion of the screenwriter Jíša, who had in mind a simple story from life, and despite the resistance of the production manager Šus, who considers the whole project overpriced nonsense. The story is about a young pyrotechnician Ticháček, who comes to the village to apply a new method of fast transport of manure to the cooperative fields, using explosives. Zdeněk Podskalský
Zdeněk Podskalský (18 February 1923 – 29 October 1993) was a Czech film director and screenwriter. He is one of the most successful Czech directors of comedies and musical films. Life Zdeněk Podskalský was born on 18 February 1923. He was born in the U Apolináře Hospital in Prague, but he is a native of Malenice, where his family had a villa, and this village is therefore often referred to as his birthplace. He graduated from the high school in 1942 and already at that time had a thick beard, typical of his appearance. In 1945–1949, he studied psychology, sociology and aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Faculty of Arts of the Charles University. At the same time, in 1947–1950, he studied film directing at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and then in 1951–1954 at Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Jiřina Jirásková
Jiřina Jirásková (17 February 1931 – 7 January 2013) was a Czechoslovakia, Czech actress. She was born and died in Prague, Czech Republic. Biography She studied at the Prague Conservatory and later at Faculty of Theatre (Prague), DAMU. After graduating, she spent one year in a regional theatre in Hradec Králové. In 1951, aged 20, she moved to the Prague's Vinohrady Theatre, where she spent her entire career. From 30 May 1990 to 30 June 2000, she was also the director of the theatre. Jirásková began to appear in TV in the 1950s; she played in the first Czechoslovak TV series ''Rodina Bláhova'' (Bláha Family). She got her first on-screen opportunity in the spy drama ''Smyk'', directed Zbyněk Brynych. She appeared in ''Every Penny Counts'' and ''Look Into His Eyes'', and also worked with comedic director Zdeněk Podskalský.
