The Gypsies (Danish Band)
The Gypsies are a Danish hip-hop / R&B band with a live sound instead of using backing tracks or turntables. The band's sound is characterized by vocalists Shaka Loveless and Benjamin Kissi. The other members are: Lasse Boman (guitar), Peter Blonde (bass), Andrew Hagedorn (keyboards) and Birk Nevel (drums). The band began before the 2000s as The Electric Gypsies with a more rock-oriented sound. With the addition of Benjamin Kissi, the group moved to a more urban sound and a consequent change of name to The Gypsies. In addition to being regular backing band for Danish names like Jokeren and Outlandish, they have also opened for The Roots and Fugees for their Danish concerts. In 2007, The Gypsies released their debut album, ''One Hand Up'' on Superstar Records label. The video for the single "Part of Me" from the album was released on 18 January 2008. Shaka Loveless
Shaka Loveless Grøn (born 5 March 1984) is a Danish rapper and singer with reggae roots. He is also a lead vocalist for the Danish hip-hop / R&B band The Gypsies (earlier known as The Electric Gypsies with a more rock-oriented sound). Shaka Loveless is the son of famous blues player James Loveless and has been a regular part of the Danish blues scene, as a solo artist, and in his long collaboration as member of Shades of Blue, where he played with guitarist Uffe Steen, bassist Morten Brauner and drummer Claus Daugaard. Besides being lead vocalist for The Gypsies, he has also developed a successful solo career with his 2012 charting hit "Tomgang" that rose to No. 1 on the Danish Singles Chart. Jesper Dahl (born 13 June 1973), better known by the stage name Jokeren (''The Joker''), is a Danish hip-hop artist and rapper. Dahl was born in Hillerød. Outlandish is a hip-hop music group based in Denmark. Formed in 1997, it currently consists of and . Career Their first formation consists of Isam Bachiri, , and . All three members are religious, with Isam and Waqas being Muslims (of Moroccan and Pakistani origins, respectively) and Lenny being Catholic of Cuban and Honduran descent. Fugees
The Fugees () are an American hip hop group formed in South Orange, New Jersey, in 1990. James Loveless (musician)
The Tolpuddle Martyrs were six agricultural labourers from the village of Tolpuddle in Dorset, England, who were arrested and tried in 1834 for swearing a secret oath as members of a friendly society. Led by George Loveless, the group had formed the Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers during a labour dispute over wage cuts that reduced their income to near-starvation levels. Such unions were technically legal, but the British government, wary of organised labour, invoked an obscure 1797 law against " unlawful oaths" to bring charges. In '' R v Loveless and Others'' the men were convicted and sentenced to penal transportation in Australia. They were pardoned in 1836 after mass protests by sympathisers and support from Lord John Russell, and returned to England between 1837 and 1839. Most of the men later emigrated to Canada.
