''The Guru'' is the sixth album by the rapper, PSD. It was released on July 19, 2005, for Thizz and Gateway Entertainment and was produced by PSD, Mac Dre, Dave Evans, Don Juan, Larry Funk and Jason Moss. Steve Davison, better known as PSD, PSD Tha Drivah or Stevie Dee, is a rapper and producer from Vallejo, California, US, who is closely associated with the late Mac Dre. Career PSD tha Drivah first appeared on Mac Dre's 1996 compilation album ‘The Rompalation’, appearing on the track "Menage A Trois" and "Ghetto World", and producing the stand-out tracks "Uninvited" and "Gumbo". After that, he would appear on N2Deep's 1997 album ‘The Golden State’ and release his debut album ‘Game Costs’ that same year. PSD tha Drivah would later release several more albums: ‘Bread Head' as well as 'What It Is’ in 1999, 2002's ‘All I Want’, 2003's ‘You Ain't Heard of Me?’, and 2005's ‘The Guru’ and ‘PSD Classic’ before finally making it to the Billboard charts with 2007's ‘Da Bidness’, which was released with Messy Marv and Keak da Sneak. Thizz Entertainment is a San Francisco Bay Area-based, independent record label, started in 1999 by rapper and music producer Andre Hicks, who was professionally known as rapper Mac Dre. Best known as a poster child of the hyphy movement that swept through the Bay Area in the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2004, Hicks was murdered by an unknown assailant while traveling after a performance in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon Hicks's death and at his written direction, his mother, Wanda Salvatto, (affectionally known as "Mac Wanda") became owner and CEO. Andre Louis Hicks (July 5, 1970 – November 1, 2004), known by his stage name Mac Dre, was an American rapper from Vallejo, California. He was an instrumental figure in the emergence of hyphy, a cultural movement in the Bay Area hip hop scene that emerged in the early 2000s. Hicks is considered one of the movement's key pioneers that fueled its popularity into mainstream, releasing songs with fast-paced rhymes and basslines that inspired a new style of dance. Jerold Dwight Ellis III (born October 18, 1974), better known by his stage name Yukmouth, is an American rapper from East Oakland, Oakland, California. He is the founder of The Regime, Smoke-A-Lot Records and Godzilla Entertainment. He is a member of Thug Lordz with C-Bo. Career Yukmouth is a member of the rap duo Luniz, along with Numskull. Richard Serrell, better known by his stage name Richie Rich, is a rapper from Oakland, California. He currently runs his own record label, Ten-Six Records. Music career Early years (1987-99) Richie Rich first entered music in the late 1980s with the group 415.
