The Gully Washer
The Gully Washer is an Intamin river rapids ride located in the ''Crackaxle Canyon'' section at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Texas, since 1992. The ride is themed to a raging river in the town of Crackaxle Canyon. Ride experience Queue Guests first pass underneath the entrance sign and go right. They then climb down the staircase and go left under the Fiesta Texas Railroad tracks. From there, guests navigate through winding pathways and the viewing area. After passing through the viewing area, guests go across the bridge over the exit path. After this, guests walk through the first passage. Some scenery can be spotted, such as a tower, boulders and a shed. Guests then go across another bridge above the water. Following this, there is an extended queue area on the left side with more passages and winding curves. After a few more pathways, guests reach the station. Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Fiesta Texas, formerly known and colloquially referred to as simply Fiesta Texas, is an amusement park in San Antonio, Texas, United States. It opened on March 14, 1992, in the La Cantera master-planned development and district as the first business in that development. Spanning , the park was originally built to become a destination musical show park with its focus on the musical culture of the state of Texas. The park was purchased by Time Warner in 1995, and branded as a Six Flags park for the 1996 season. Lift Hill
A lift hill, or chain hill, is an upward-sloping section of track on a roller coaster on which the roller coaster train is mechanically lifted to an elevated point or peak in the track. Upon reaching the peak, the train is then propelled from the peak by gravity and is usually allowed to coast throughout the rest of the roller coaster ride's circuit on its own momentum, including most or all of the remaining uphill sections. River Rapids Ride
A river rapids ride (or river rafting ride) is an amusement ride that simulates whitewater rafting. History The river rapids ride concept was proposed by Bill Crandall (general manager of Six Flags AstroWorld, AstroWorld in Houston) and developed by Intamin. AstroWorld introduced the world's first river rapids ride, Thunder River (ride), Thunder River, in 1980 and popularized a concept which can now be found at most major amusement parks. Despite being an incredibly popular attraction, AstroWorld's Thunder River (being a prototype) was initially plagued by issues that were corrected in the first few seasons of operation. A U-turn in driving refers to performing a 180° rotation to reverse the direction of travel. It is called a "U-turn" because the maneuver looks like the U, letter U. Iron Rattler is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. The ride originally opened in 1992 as Rattler, the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world. It was converted to steel in 2013 by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), led by designer Alan Schilke, and reopened as Iron Rattler.
