''The Greatest Hits – Why Try Harder'' is a compilation album by English electronic musician Fatboy Slim, released on 19 June 2006. In addition to previously released material, the album includes two new tracks: "Champion Sound" and "That Old Pair of Jeans". A collection of music videos titled ''The Greatest Hits – Why Make Videos'' was also released in 2006. Hit singles " Ya Mama" and " Star 69" were omitted. Background To save space on the audio disc, the songs are shorter radio edits with the exception of the final track. The profanity in "Wonderful Night" remains intact in the United Kingdom edition, but was removed for the United States. "Champion Sound" is also significantly different on the US edition, as it contains verses that are absent from the UK release. Fatboy Slim
Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known as Fatboy Slim, is an English musician and DJ who helped popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. His music makes extensive use of Sampling (music), samples from eclectic genres, combined with pop structures, processed rhythms and "sloganistic" vocals. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their cover of "Caravan of Love". After the Housemartins split, Cook moved to Brighton to pursue dance music. He formed the electronic group Beats International, who produced the number-one single "Dub Be Good to Me" in 1990, and played in the band Freak Power. He also released House music, house records under names including Pizzaman (duo), Pizzaman and the Mighty Dub Katz. Tom Hull is an American music critic, web designer, and former software developer. Hull began writing criticism for ''The Village Voice'' in the mid 1970s under the mentorship of its music editor Robert Christgau, but left the field to pursue a career in software design and engineering during the 1980s and 1990s, which earned him the majority of his life's income. "I See You Baby" is a song by British duo Groove Armada, featuring Gram'ma Funk on vocals. The song was later remixed by Fatboy Slim, with this latter version appearing in airplay. It was also remixed by Futureshock. The Fatboy Slim remix featured extensively in a Renault Megane television advertising campaign in the United Kingdom in 2003. The Futureshock dance version is used as the theme for the show ''MTV Cribs'' since 2000. Although the single peaked at number 17 on the UK Singles Chart upon its original release in November 1999, it became very popular due to its inclusion on its parent album ''Vertigo'', and various dance compilations. William Earl "Bootsy" Collins (born October 26, 1951) is an American bass guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Rising to prominence with James Brown in the early 1970s before joining the Parliament-Funkadelic collective, Collins established himself as one of the leading names and innovators in funk with his driving basslines and humorous vocals. He later formed his own P-Funk side project known as 'Bootsy's Rubber Band'.
