''The Great Australian Cookbook'' is an Australian television series based on the similarly named cookbook created by Reg Mombassa in collaboration with Kylie Kwong, Charmaine Solomon, George Calombaris and Maggie Beer. The television series features 22 of Australia's greatest cooks, amongst whom Matt Moran Matthew Moran (born 15 May 1969) is an Australian chef and restaurateur also known for being a guest on various TV cooking shows. Lifestyle (formerly known as The LifeStyle Channel) is an Australian television channel. The channel launched on 1 September 1997. The channel has an emphasis on contemporary lifestyle interests. Reg Mombassa
Christopher O'Doherty, also known by the pseudonym Reg Mombassa, is a New Zealand-born Australian artist and musician. He is a founding member of the band Mental As Anything and member of Dog Trumpet (alongside his brother Peter O'Doherty). Early life Mombassa was born Christopher O'Doherty in Auckland, New Zealand, on 14 August 1951. O'Doherty, his parents and younger brother Peter immigrated to Sydney, Australia, in 1969. He enrolled in what is now the National Art School in Darlinghurst in 1969 but left the following year. He returned again in 1975 and obtained his Diploma of Painting in 1977. Kylie Kwong
Kylie Jane Kwong (born 31 October 1969) is an Australian television chef, author, television presenter and restaurateur. Early life and education Kwong attended Epping North School and Cheltenham Girls High School. As a third-generation Chinese Australian, she learned the fundamentals of Cantonese cooking by her mother's side. She undertook much of her apprenticeship at Neil Perry's Rockpool and Wockpool, and later at Restaurant Manfredi. Career Kwong opened her first restaurant, ''Billy Kwong'', in the Sydney suburb of Surry Hills. Charmaine Maureen Solomon (born 1930) is an Australian cook, author of 31 cookbooks and the creator of her own brand of spice blends and marinades. ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' and much of the public has called her "the Queen of Asian cooking in Australia" and part of "the holy trinity of cookbook authors". She is named in Who's Who in Australia and credited by various commentators with introducing Asian food to Australian households. Her 1976 book, ''The Complete Asian Cookbook'', has sold over one million copies in five languages and is regarded as one of Australia's most influential cookbooks. George Dimitrios Calombaris (born 4 October 1978) is an Australian chef and restaurateur. Calombaris was one of the judges of the Network 10 series ''MasterChef Australia'' from 2009 to 2019. Prior to his role on ''MasterChef Australia'', Calombaris appeared regularly on the daytime Network Ten cooking show ''Ready Steady Cook (Australian TV series), Ready Steady Cook''. He owned several restaurants in Melbourne. Maggie Beer (born Margaret Anne Ackerman, 19 January 1945) is an Australian chef, food author, restaurateur, and food manufacturer. Matthew Moran (born 15 May 1969) is an Australian chef and restaurateur also known for being a guest on various TV cooking shows. Early life Moran was raised on a dairy farm at Badgerys Creek, west of Sydney, before moving to the outer-western suburb of Seven Hills. At age 15, Moran left Grantham High School to start a career as a chef. While still at school, he worked on weekends in the kitchen of the Parramatta RSL Club.
