The Gong Show With Dave Attell
''The Gong Show with Dave Attell'' was a short-lived revival of the 1970s Chuck Barris television comedy, comedy game show called ''The Gong Show'', hosted by comedian Dave Attell. The show premiered on July 17, 2008. It was produced by Adam Sandler's production company Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures Television. Show format Faithful to the classic format, each show presented a contest between amateur performers of often dubious talent, with a panel of three celebrity judges. If any judge considered an act to be particularly bad, he or she could strike a large gong, thus forcing the performer to stop and eliminating that contestant from the competition. If the act survived without being gonged, the performers were given a score by each of the three judges on a scale of 0 to 500 (instead of 0 to 10), for a maximum possible score of 1,500. Dave Attell
David Attell (born January 18, 1965) is an American stand-up comedian, actor and writer best known as the host of Comedy Central's '' Insomniac with Dave Attell.'' Early life Attell was born in the New York City borough of Queens to a Jewish family. He was raised in Rockville Centre on Long Island. He graduated from South Side High School. After graduating from New York University in 1987 with a degree in communications, Attell began performing at open-mic nights. Career Attell's first appearance on television was in 1988 on VH1's '' Stand-Up Spotlight,'' which also featured early appearances by Lewis Black, Margaret Cho, Jeff Garlin, Jay Mohr and Wanda Sykes. Amie Nicole Harwick (May 20, 1981February 15, 2020) was an American marriage and family therapist and writer.
