The Girl Who Forgot
''The Girl Who Forgot'' is a 1940 British comedy film directed by Adrian Brunel and starring Elizabeth Allan, Ralph Michael and Enid Stamp-Taylor. It was made at the Nettlefold Studios in Walton-on-Thames, based on a play ''The Young Lady in Pink'' by Gertrude E. Jennings. The film's sets were designed by the art director Holmes Paul. It was the final film of Brunel, who had been a leading director during the silent era. Synopsis On the train back from her school to Paddington, an eighteen-year-old girl named Leonora loses her memory. This coincides with her father's decision, having just got his pilot's license to take her mother on a flight to Baghdad. Lost in a hotel in London, she is rescued by a young man who wants to help her. However his fiancée is extremely jealous, and arranges for a poor confidence trickster to pretend to be her mother in exchange for cash. Adrian Brunel
Adrian Brunel (4 September 1892 – 18 February 1958) was an English film director and screenwriter. Brunel's directorial career started in the silent era, and reached its peak in the latter half of the 1920s. His surviving work from the 1920s, both full-length feature films and shorts, is highly regarded by silent film historians for its distinctive innovation, sophistication and wit. With the arrival of talkies, Brunel's career ground to a halt and he was absent from the screen for several years before returning in the mid-1930s with a flurry of quota quickie productions, the majority of which are now classed as lost. Brunel's last credit as director was in a 1940 comedy film, although he worked for a few years more as a "fixer-up" for films directed or produced by friends in the industry. Eileen Sharp
Eileen Nora Sharp (20 September 1900 – 25 March 1958) was an English singer and actress probably best known as the principal mezzo-soprano with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from 1923 to 1925. For a few years after that, she continued to act in the West End and on tour, but she left the stage after marrying in 1928, making some radio and television appearances in the 1930s. Jeanne de Casalis (22 May 1897 – 19 August 1966) was a Basutoland-born British actress of stage, radio, TV and film. Born in Basutoland as Jeanne Casalis de Pury, she was educated in France, where her businessman father was the proprietor of one of that country's largest corset retailers, ''Charneaux''.
