''The Frozen Borderline – 1968–1970'' is a compilation album by German musician Nico, released in 2007 by record label Rhino. The album comprises remastered versions of her studio albums ''The Marble Index'' (1968) and ''Desertshore'' (1970), along with early/alternate versions of several tracks and two previously unknown tracks. Track listing ''The Marble Index'' Tracks 1 to 8 are remastered versions of the songs from ''The Marble Index''. Track 9 and 10 are two previously unknown songs. Nico
Christa Päffgen (; 16 October 1938 – 18 July 1988), known by her stage name Nico, was a German singer, songwriter, actress, and model. Nico had roles in several films, including Federico Fellini's '' La Dolce Vita'' (1960) and Andy Warhol's ''Chelsea Girls'' (1966). At the insistence of Warhol, she sang lead on three songs of the Velvet Underground's debut album '' The Velvet Underground & Nico'' (1967). At the same time, she started a solo career and released '' Chelsea Girl'' (1967). Her friend Jim Morrison suggested that she start writing her own material. She then composed songs on a harmonium, not traditionally a rock instrument. ''Le Bataclan '72'' is a live album by Lou Reed, John Cale and Nico, released on October 19, 2004. The album was recorded from the soundboard during the 1972 concert and heavily bootlegged over the years, before it gained an official release in 2004. Background and production The album was recorded during a live show at the Bataclan club in Paris, on January 29, 1972, and was originally broadcast on French TV. The concert marked the first time since the breakup of The Velvet Underground that Reed, Cale and Nico were on stage together. ''The Marble Index'' is the second studio album by the German musician Nico, released in November 1968 on Elektra Records. Recording ''Desertshore'' was co-produced by John Cale and Joe Boyd. "Janitor of Lunacy" was composed as a tribute to her friend Brian Jones, founding member of the Rolling Stones, who had died the previous year. The back and front covers feature stills from the film '' The Inner Scar'' by Philippe Garrel which starred Nico, Garrel and her son Ari Boulogne. A few of the songs from the album were included on the film's soundtrack.
