The Fourth Reich (EP)
''The Fourth Reich'' was an EP released by the Icelandic new wave group Þeyr through Mjöt in 12" vinyl format. For this work Þeyr recurred to a stronger use of percussion and rhythmic efforts than previous works, where the songs "Metamorphosis" and "Blood" outstands due to their deep percussive orientation. This single was released in the UK through Shout. Banning in the UK This EP was released in the UK through the label Shout but its original front cover was banned and replaced by a new one with black-colored background and just the title in red gothic characters. The name ''The Fourth Reich'' could lead to confusion because the title seems to suggest a continuation of the Third Reich. Þeyr
Þeyr () was an Icelandic New wave music, new wave band from the early 1980s. Origins The origins of Þeyr date back to the late 1970s when singer Magnús Guðmundsson, bassist Hilmar Örn Agnarsson and Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson (drums and synthesizer) were playing in a garage band called Fellibylur (Hurricane). The band was expanded with vocalist Elín Reynisdóttir, who at the time was singing at a church choir, guitarist Jóhannes Helgason from a rock band called Piccolo, and drummer Sigtryggur Baldursson from Hattimas. They called themselves Frostrósir (Frostroses) and played rock music and some Icelandic songs at dancehalls in Reykjavík and its surroundings. After a while they decided to change the band's name and came up with ''Þeyr'', which was drawn from a poem by Skuggi and it means ''Wind'' or ''Thaw'' in old Icelandic. Sigtryggur Baldursson (born 2 October 1962) is an Icelandic drummer and singer. Sigtryggur was born in Norway to Icelandic parents. Guðlaugur Kristinn Óttarsson (born 11 December 1954) is an Icelandic musician. Music career Early bands Steinblóm (Stone Flowers) (1969) was his first group. It was a trio formed by Guðlaugur (electric and acoustic guitars), Haraldur Johannessen (acoustic guitar) and Gunnar Magnússon (acoustic bass). Steinblóm played punk versions of artists such as Bob Dylan and Donovan, Guðlaugur originals and folk songs. At that time, he was experimenting with homemade electro-acoustic guitars and amplifiers. Steinblóm played gigs in Reykjavík and the suburbs. Lótus was created while he was at Laugarvatn high school in 1972. Magnús Guðmundsson (musician)
Magnús Guðmundsson (6 February 1879 – 28 November 1937) was an Icelandic politician. He graduated in laws from the University of Copenhagen in 1907. Magnus was a member of Althingi for his constituency in North west Iceland from 1916 till the day of his death in 1937. He served as prime minister of Iceland for 15 days, from 23 June to 8 July 1926 following the death of Jón Magnússon. Magnus is the shortest serving prime minister in Icelandic history. Magnus was a member of the now defunct Conservative Party (''Íhaldsflokkurinn''). He was the Minister of Industrial Affairs in the presiding Government of Jón Magnússon from 1924 to 1927.
