''The Flying Doctor'' is a popular British radio series that aired on the BBC Light Programmes about the Australian flying doctor service. It started in 1958 and went on until 1963. The show was very popular in Britain and influenced their image of Australians. It was adapted from the TV series ''The Flying Doctor'' (1959). Episodes went for half an hour. Rex Rienits
Rex Rienits (17 April 1909 – 1971) was an Australian writer of radio, films, plays and TV. He was a journalist before becoming one of the leading radio writers in Australia. He moved to England in 1949 and worked for a number of years there. He later returned to Australia and worked on early local TV drama. According to Richard Lane Rienits "was the most affable and generous of men; warm in his friendships, generous with his time and in his efforts to help those still with the ladder to scale. Above all, he was utterly dedicated to the propagation of Australian history, art and playwriting." Early life and career Rienits was born in Dubbo. Vernon Harris (26 February 1905 – February 1999) was a British screenwriter. He often worked with the film director Lewis Gilbert. William Henry Kerr (10 June 1922 – 28 August 2014) was a British and Australian actor, comedian, and vaudevillian.
