The Fix (House)
"The Fix" is the twenty-first episode of the seventh season of the American medical drama ''House''. It aired on May 9, 2011. Plot After losing a bet on a boxing match to Wilson, House sets out to prove the fighter he bet on ( Kevin Phillips) lost due to an underlying medical condition. House also begins injecting himself with an experimental drug reported to regrow muscle in rats. The team treats a scientist, Dr. Lee (Linda Park) for seizures and symptoms of radiation poisoning. They discover that Dr. Lee's boyfriend, Ceaser, has been poisoning her with Spanish Fly, which causes symptoms similar to radiation poisoning. Cast Besides the main cast the episode also features Ken Olandt, John T. Woods, Drew Cohn, Frank Drank, Denice Sealy, Helena Apothaker and Bobbin Bergstrom. ''House'' (also called ''House, M.D.'') is an American medical drama television series that originally ran on the Fox network for eight seasons, from November 16, 2004, to May 21, 2012. The series' main character is Dr. Gregory House ( Hugh Laurie), an unconventional, misanthropic medical genius who, despite his dependence on pain medication, leads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey. The series' premise originated with Paul Attanasio, while David Shore, who is credited as creator, was primarily responsible for the conception of the title character. Gregory Charles Yaitanes (born June 18, 1970) is an American television and film director. He is also an angel investor in Twitter. Early life Yaitanes grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he directed his first film, ''Salad Bar: The Movie''. David Shore (born July 3, 1959) is a Canadian television writer. Shore worked on ''Family Law'', '' NYPD Blue'' and '' Due South'', also producing many episodes of the latter. The seventh season of ''House'' premiered on September 20, 2010, and ended on May 23, 2011. House and Cuddy attempt to make a real relationship work and face the question as to whether their new relationship will affect their ability to diagnose patients. The new season features a new opening title sequence. This was the second change in the opening sequence since the show began; Jennifer Morrison's name was removed from the credits, while Peter Jacobson's and Olivia Wilde's were added to it, with new background images also inserted into the traditional title sequence. This is the last season to feature Lisa Edelstein, who did not return for the eighth season. Prior to the start of the season, it was announced that a multi-episode arc that would feature House on the road was scrapped, forcing David Shore to return to the show to rework the rest of the season. Cantharidin
Cantharidin is an odorless, colorless fatty substance of the terpenoid class, which is secreted by many species of blister beetles. It is a burn agent or a poison in large doses, but preparations containing it were historically used as aphrodisiacs (Spanish fly). In its natural form, cantharidin is secreted by the male blister beetle and given to the female as a copulatory gift during mating. Afterwards, the female beetle covers her eggs with it as a defense against predators. Poisoning from cantharidin is a significant veterinary concern, especially in horses, but it can also be poisonous to humans if taken internally (where the source is usually experimental self-exposure). Externally, cantharidin is a potent vesicant (blistering agent), exposure to which can cause severe chemical burns. Sonny Boy Williamson I
John Lee Curtis "Sonny Boy" Williamson (March 30, 1914 – June 1, 1948) was an American blues harmonica player, singer and songwriter. He is often regarded as the pioneer of the blues harp as a solo instrument. He played on hundreds of recordings by many pre–World War II blues artists.
