''The First Line'' is an album by Marcellus Hall. It is his first full-length album and was released by Glacial Pace in 2011. The album, which includes a booklet of drawings by Marcellus, has been compared to the likes of Robyn Hitchcock. Marcellus Hall is an American artist and musician. As an illustrator, Hall has worked for ''The New Yorker'' and other publications. As a musician, Hall has performed solo and with bands Railroad Jerk and White Hassle. Isaac Kristofer Brock (born July 9, 1975) is an American musician who is the lead singer, songwriter, guitarist and banjoist for the indie rock band Modest Mouse, as well as his side project band, Ugly Casanova. As a songwriter, he is noted for his wordplay and frequent use of metaphors, philosophical lyrics, themes of authentic rural lifestyles, and phrases and sayings commonly used in the early to mid-20th century and in blue collar environments. Early life Brock was born in Helena, Montana. During his childhood, he lived with his mother and sister in Montana and Oregon in hippie communes and churches before moving to Issaquah, Washington when he was 11 years old. Brock was home-schooled in his early education. When his mother's house flooded three times, she was forced to move into her future husband's trailer. ''Afterglow'' is the second solo album by illustrator and musician Marcellus Hall. The title song was listed on the New York Music Daily as song #48 on the 100 best songs of 2012 before the album was released. The Hostages consist of Troy Fannin on keyboard and guitar, Mike Shapiro on drums, and Damon Smith on bass. Mike Duclos also played Upright Bass on the album. Marcellus Hall said the members of the Hostages where not literally hostages but said this backup band was more cohesive as a group over other backup ensembles he had played with. Robyn Hitchcock
Robyn Rowan Hitchcock (born 3 March 1953) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. While primarily a vocalist and guitarist, he also plays harmonica, piano, and bass guitar. After leading the Soft Boys in the late 1970s and releasing the influential ''Underwater Moonlight'', Hitchcock launched a prolific solo career. His musical and lyrical styles have been influenced by Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Syd Barrett, Captain Beefheart, Martin Carthy, Lou Reed, Roger McGuinn and Bryan Ferry. Hitchcock's earliest lyrics mined a rich vein of English surrealist comic tradition and tended to depict a particular type of eccentric and sardonic English worldview.
