Betty Roland (22 July 1903 – 12 February 1996) was an Australian writer of plays, screenplays, novels, children's books and comics. ''The Newcastle Sun'' was a newspaper published in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It had previously been published as ''The Northern Times''. History ''The Northern Times'' was first published in 1916. In 1918 the ''Times'' was purchased by Sir Hugh Denison, publisher of ''The Sun'' who changed the name to ''The Newcastle Sun''. ''The Newcastle Sun'' was acquired by '' Newcastle Morning Herald'' in 1936 and continued until 1980 when it ceased publication. A newspaper named ''The Northern Times'' (with the alternative title ''Northern Times and Newcastle Telegraph'') had previously been published in Maitland from 1857-1860. The ''Northern Telegraph'' resumed publication in 1916, before being absorbed by the ''Northern Times'' in 1918. Benjamin Boyd
Benjamin Boyd (21 August 180115 October 1851) was a Scotland, Scottish entrepreneur who became a major shipowner, banker, Squatting (Australia), grazier, politician and Blackbirding, blackbirder in the British colony of New South Wales. He was briefly a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, Legislative Council. Boyd became one of the largest landholders and graziers in the History of New South Wales#Development of the colony, Colony of New South Wales before suffering financial difficulties and becoming bankrupt. Boyd briefly tried his luck on the California Gold Rush, Californian goldfields before venturing to establish a Pacific union, being purportedly murdered on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Hal Lashwood
Harold Francis Lashwood (13 August 1915 – 26 March 1992), professionally known as Hal Lashwood, was an Australian vaudeville performer, dancer, radio and theatre entertainer, television personality, quiz host, unionist and councillor. A well-known performer in radio, he worked opposite Roy Rene in his various "Mo" performances, usually as a straightman. He would later do the same for Syd Heylen on HSV 7's long running TV variety series ''Sunny Side Up'' in the 1950s and '60s.
