The Fireman (novel)
''The Fireman'' is a post-apocalyptic novel by American author Joe Hill. The novel, his fourth, tells the tale of a deadly spore that has infected most of the world's population. Hill first spoke of the novel in 2013 in promotional interviews for his then-new novel '' NOS4A2''. The novel was released on May 17, 2016. Background Hill first spoke of the novel during his book tour for his previous book, '' NOS4A2''. He described it early on as a "science fiction novel about being happy in the face of darkness". He went on to say that the book is "less like Matheson, more like Crichton. Less like '' Hell House'', more like ''The Andromeda Strain''". On September 5, 2014, Hill did an early reading of the novel as a part of the Pixels Project on YouTube. Joseph Hillström King (born June 4, 1972), better known by the pen name Joe Hill, is an American writer. His work includes the novels '' Heart-Shaped Box'' (2007), '' Horns'' (2010), '' NOS4A2'' (2013), '' The Fireman'' (2016) and '' King Sorrow'' (2025); the short story collections '' 20th Century Ghosts'' (2005) and '' Strange Weather'' (2017); and the comic book series '' Locke & Key'' (2008–2013). A travois (; Canadian French, from French language, French ; also travoise or travoy) is an A-frame structure used to drag loads over land, most notably by the Plains Indians of North America. Construction and use The basic construction consists of a platform or netting mounted on two long poles, Lashing (ropework), lashed in the shape of an A-frame; the frame is dragged with the sharply pointed end forward.
