The Feverfew
The Feverfew is an American band based in Brooklyn, New York, United States, known for their challenging lyrics, complex harmonies, and stark acoustic sound. The band has been compared to Red House Painters, Cat Power, and Mazzy Star. History Bethany Walk-Spiers, formerly of the bands Sleep Station and Morgan Storm, formed The Feverfew in 2003, mainly as a vehicle for her new solo material. Officially, the band consisted of Spiers and Jonathon Linaberry, but several other musicians contributed to the band's first album, 2004's ''Apparitions'', released by Eyeball Records Eyeball Records is an independent record label originally established in NYC out of Apartment 4C on 14th St at Avenue A by Alex Saavedra and Vincent Li. Sleep Station is an American indie rock band on Eyeball Records from Bergen County, New Jersey that revolves around frontman David Debiak. Charlyn Marie "Chan" Marshall ( ; born January 21, 1972), better known by her stage name Cat Power, is an American singer- songwriter, musician and model. Cat Power was originally the name of her first band, but has become her stage name as a solo artist. Born in Atlanta, Marshall was raised throughout the southern United States, and began performing in local bands in Atlanta in the early 1990s. Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Santa Monica, California, from remnants of the group Opal. Founding member David Roback's friend Hope Sandoval became the group's vocalist when Kendra Smith left Opal. Mazzy Star is best known for the song " Fade into You", which brought the band some success in the mid-1990s and was the group's biggest mainstream hit, earning extensive exposure on MTV, VH1, and radio airplay. Roback and Sandoval were the creative center of the band, with Sandoval as lyricist and Roback as composer of the majority of the band's material until his death in Los Angeles on February 24, 2020, from metastatic cancer.
