''The Falling Star'' (german: Der fallende Stern) is a 1950 West German drama film directed by Harald Braun and starring Werner Krauss, Dieter Borsche and Gisela Uhlen.Bock & Bergfelder p.60 It was entered into the 1951 Cannes Film Festival. Gudrun ( ; non, Guðrún) or Kriemhild ( ; gmh, Kriemhilt) is the wife of Sigurd/Siegfried and a major figure in Germanic heroic legend and literature. She is believed to have her origins in Ildico, last wife of Attila the Hun, and two queens of the Merovingian dynasty, Brunhilda of Austrasia and Fredegund. In both the Continental (German) and Scandinavian traditions, Gudrun/Kriemhild is the sister of the Burgundian king Gunther/Gunnar and marries the hero Siegfried/Sigurd. Elisabeth Lindermeier (also Elisabeth Kempe-Lindermeier; 17 February 1923 – 19 February 1998) was a German operatic soprano. A member of the Bavarian State Opera, she performed internationally, including at the Royal Opera House in London in the English premiere of ''Die Liebe der Danae'' by Richard Strauss. She appeared in recordings and films. Life and career Born in Munich on 17 February 1923, Lindermeier initially worked as a bank clerk. She began her vocal studies at the Musikhochschule München.
