The Ettes is a garage rock revival band consisting of Lindsay "Coco" Hames, Maria "Poni" Silver, and Jeremy "Jem" Cohen. The band formed in 2004 in Los Angeles, California and is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. History The Ettes released their first album '' Shake the Dust'' on Sympathy For The Record Industry in the United States and 2Fer Records in Spain in 2006. ''Shake The Dust'' was produced/mixed by Liam Watson and recorded at Toe Rag Studios in London, UK. The Ettes' second album ''Look At Life Again Soon'' released by Take Root Records in the USA, 2Fer Records in Spain and KNTRST in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2008. James Lee Lindsey Jr. (May 1, 1980 – January 13, 2010), known professionally as Jay Reatard, was an American musician from Memphis, Tennessee. He was signed to Matador Records. He released recordings as a solo artist and as a member of the Reatards and Lost Sounds. Biography Early life Lindsey was born in Lilbourn, Missouri, on May 1, 1980. He and his family moved to Memphis when he was 8 years old, since his father struggled to find employment in his hometown. His recording career began at age 15, when a homemade demo tape he sent to Goner Records caught the ear of Eric Friedl, Oblivian band member and Goner Records' owner. Lindsey heard Friedl and the Oblivians bandmates earlier that year when they returned home to Memphis as the opening act for Rocket from the Crypt. Lindsey became enamored of their sloppy, lo-fi music and created his brand of heavily distorted garage rock. The Greenhornes were an American garage rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in 1996 by vocalist/guitarist Craig Fox, bass guitarist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler. They released their debut album '' Gun For You'' in 1999, followed by a self-titled album in 2001. A third studio album, '' Dual Mono'', was released in 2002, with the band taking a small hiatus. New York Dolls were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1971. Along with the Velvet Underground, the MC5, and the Stooges, they were one of the first bands of the early punk rock scenes. Although the band never achieved much commercial success and their original line-up fell apart quickly, the band's first two albums—''New York Dolls'' (1973) and '' Too Much Too Soon'' (1974)—became among the most popular cult records in rock.
