The Elements (Second Person Album)
''The Elements'' is a special edition Post Trip Hop album produced by Second Person for Sellaband and was released on 9 August 2007. This is the follow-up to the band's debut album, ''Chromatography'', and was written by Julia Johnson, Mark Maclaine and Álvaro López at their studio in West London, UK. This album contains an exclusive set of tracks written for "believers" on the online music community, Sellaband. Using the website, fans raised a total of $50,000 to fund the album and since Second Person were the first UK band to achieve this goal the project has gained a great deal of worldwide media attention. In the latter stages of production the band were joined by legendary producer/engineer: Tony Platt who is best known for his work with Bob Marley, AC/DC and Iron Maiden amongst many others. Second Person (band)
Second Person were a British band that existed for 10 years between 2001 and 2011 and mixed influences from trip hop, jazz, hip hop and electronica to form post-trip hop. History In late 2001, singer Julia Johnson and producer/bassist Mark Maclaine met, and early the following year formed the band Second Person. Drummer Álvaro López was recruited in mid-2004 to complete the final line up and their debut album ''Chromatography'' was released later that year. It went on to sell out of its initial white-label run in the United Kingdom, USA and Australia through word of mouth and publicity generated by musical placements on documentaries and extreme sports films. The opening song "Too Cold To Snow" was later featured in the closing credits of 2006 film ''Dolls''. AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973. Bebo
Bebo ( ) was an American social networking website that originally operated from 2005 until its bankruptcy in 2013. The site relaunched several times after its bankruptcy with a number of short-lived offerings, including instant messaging and video streaming, until its acquisition by Amazon in July 2019 when it was shut down. It was announced in January 2021 that it would be returning as a new social-media site the month after. By May 2022, it had once again been shut down, without having left beta-testing. Ray Staff is a British mastering engineer, best known for his work with a diverse mix of artists including Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Clash and Black Sabbath. Most recently he has mastered albums for Muse. Biography and career Joining Trident Studios (a recording facility originally located at 17, St. Anne's Court in London's Soho district) in 1970, Ray Staff became part of the newly formed Mastering Department contributing to projects such as: David Bowie, '' Aladdin Sane'', '' Ziggy Stardust'' and Elton John. Staff moved on to become Trident's first Chief Mastering Engineer. For Monty Python, Staff created the world's first three-sided album by cutting two spirals on one side of the disc, creating the "hidden" third side. This was topped later with a Johnny Moped album for Ace Records, where the first track on the A-side was double cut, the two spirals then joined to play the remaining side of the album. Sarm Studios is an independent recording studio in London. Originally founded in east London in 1973, the studio's original location was renamed Sarm East Studios in 1982 when Jill Sinclair and Trevor Horn purchased Basing Street Studios from Island Records and renamed it Sarm West Studios. Sarm Studios original locations were eventually succeeded by the Sarm Music Village complex. Adam Sieff
Adam Michael Sieff (born April 1954) is a British music consultant and former head of jazz for the UK and Europe for Sony Music. He was head of sales and marketing for Gearbox Records which specialises in the release of previously unheard jazz recordings. As of April 2017 he is creative consultant for Margate Jazz. He is the son of Teddy Sieff, the Marks and Spencer heir. Early life Adam Sieff was born in April 1954 to Joseph "Teddy" Sieff, president of the retailers Marks and Spencer, and his wife Lois Sieff. He was educated at Westminster School (1967–71) where his contemporaries included the journalist Tom Utley and Michael Zilkha, the co-founder of ZE Records. Robert Nesta Marley (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Trip hop is a musical genre that has been described as a psychedelic music, psychedelic fusion of hip hop music, hip hop and electronica with slow tempos and an atmospheric sound.
