The Early Years (Dropkick Murphys Album)
Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. The current lineup consists of co-lead vocalist and bassist Ken Casey, drummer Matt Kelly, co-lead vocalist Al Barr (on hiatus from the band since 2022), rhythm and lead guitarist James Lynch, lead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Tim Brennan, multi-instrumentalist and rhythm guitarist Jeff DaRosa and bassist Kevin Rheault. Casey has been the band's only constant member since the band formed. The band was initially signed to independent punk record label Hellcat Records; they released five albums for the label and built a reputation around New England and the East coast through persistent touring. They expanded their schedule to include national and international tour dates, and began a tradition of yearly St. Patrick's Day week shows, held in and around Boston. National ShamrockFest
National ShamrockFest, also commonly referred to as ''ShamrockFest'', is a one-day music festival held in Washington, D.C. to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.ShamrockFestis held in a very large, paved, parking-lot type of area at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium called the ''RFK Stadium Festival Fairgounds''. (The festival is ''not'' held inside the stadium itself.) The festival is held on a Saturday near Saint Patrick's Day, typically from about 1pm to 9pm. The festival goes on regardless of weather, which can often be cold and rainy in Washington, D.C., in March. Jeff Erna
Jeff Erna is an American drummer, from Boston, Massachusetts, most notable for being the original drummer for the punk bands Dropkick Murphys and Street Dogs. Career Erna began his professional career in the Boston garage band Jared, which produced its single "Space Traveler" in 1980. He was the original drummer for the punk/ new wave band The Blackjacks and drummed for the Boston based rock band The Outlets. In 1996, Erna, The Outlets' guitarist Rick Barton, singer Mike McColgan, and bassist Ken Casey formed the Dropkick Murphys. Erna would appear on the band's earliest 7" records, compilation appearances and their ''Boys on the Docks'' EP before leaving the band in 1997 shortly before the recording of their debut album, '' Do or Die''. ''The Meanest of Times'' is the sixth studio album by American celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. It was released on September 18, 2007, through their vanity label, Born & Bred Records, a division of Cooking Vinyl Records. The album was their first to not be released through Hellcat Records and their last to feature guitarist Marc Orrell, who left the band following the tour in support of the album. The picture on the album's cover was taken at Saint Brendan School in Dorchester, Massachusetts, close to Quincy, Massachusetts whence the band hails. Local kids posed in the picture.
