''The Drought'' is the fourth full-length album by Danish experimental musician and composer Frederikke Hoffmeier under the moniker Puce Mary. It was released on 5 October 2018 by Berlin-based record label, PAN. The first and only single from the album, "Red Desert", was released in August 2018. Background and music The music on ''The Drought'' was described as noise and industrial music and incorporates soundtrack dynamics. According to Pitchfork's Daniel Martin-McCormick, the album, while rooted in industrial and power electronics genres, eschews these genres' "stereotypical displays of machismo and fetishistic celebrations of strength." Puce Mary
Frederikke Hoffmeier (born 1989), better known by her stage name Puce Mary, is a Danish experimental musician, composer and sound artist. Biography Frederikke Hoffmeier was born in 1989 in Denmark. She started her career in Copenhagen's underground music scene, performing with bands such as Timeless Reality. Her debut release under the name Puce Mary, ''Piss Flowers'', was issued in cassette format in 2010. During this time, Hoffmeier collaborated with Loke Rahbek, also known as Croatian Amor, on multiple cassette-only releases. Her debut full-length album, ''Success'', was released in 2013 on Posh Isolation record label. The record was followed up by 2014's ''Persona''. Around this time, she obtained residency at EMS, a state-funded experimental music studio in Stockholm, Sweden. ''Red Desert'' ( it, Il deserto rosso) is a 1964 drama film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Monica Vitti with Richard Harris. Written by Antonioni and Tonino Guerra, it was Antonioni's first color film. The story follows a troubled woman (Vitti) living in an industrial region of Northern Italy following a recent automobile accident. David Michael Wojnarowicz ( (September 14, 1954 – July 22, 1992) was an American painter, photographer, writer, filmmaker, performance artist, songwriter/recording artist, and AIDS activist prominent in the East Village art scene. He incorporated personal narratives influenced by his struggle with AIDS as well as his political activism in his art until his death from the disease in 1992. In statistics, the standard score is the number of standard deviations by which the value of a raw score (i.e., an observed value or data point) is above or below the mean value of what is being observed or measured.
