''The Doctor'' is the ninth studio album by Cheap Trick, released in 1986. It was produced by Tony Platt and reached No. 115 on the ''Billboard'' 200 Chart. Background Since the beginning of the 1980s, Cheap Trick saw increasing pressure from their label, Epic Records, to produce material that was more commercial. The band achieved their first Top 40 album since 1982, with '' Standing on the Edge'' in 1985. For that album, the band had planned on returning to the rough sound of their 1977 debut, but producer Jack Douglas backed out of the mixing process due to the legal issues he was having with Yoko Ono. Mixer Tony Platt was called in, and as a result, the album featured keyboards and electronic drums more prominently than the band and Douglas had intended. For the follow-up album, Platt was hired as producer and he opted for the dominant use of commercial-sounding synthesizers. Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick is an American rock band formed in Rockford, Illinois in 1970 by guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, lead vocalist Robin Zander and drummer Bun E. Carlos. Their work bridged elements of '60s pop rock, guitar pop, '70s hard rock, and the emerging punk rock sound, and would help set the template for subsequent power pop artists. ''Busted'' is the eleventh studio album released by Cheap Trick, which was released in 1990 and peaked at number 44 on the US album charts. After the success of "The Flame" from the previous album ''Lap of Luxury'', the band recorded ''Busted'' with a similar format, especially on the single "Can't Stop Fallin' into Love." The single peaked at number 12 on the US charts. The album failed to be as successful as the label had hoped, and about a year after the release of ''Busted'', Epic Records dropped the band. The Move
The Move were a British Rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1965. They scored nine Top 40, top 20 UK singles in five years, but were among the most popular British bands not to find any real success in the United States. For most of their career The Move were led by guitarist, singer and songwriter Roy Wood. He wrote all the group's UK singles and, from 1968, also sang lead vocals on many songs. Initially, the band had four main vocalists (Wood, Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton, and Ace Kefford, Chris "Ace" Kefford) who divided the lead-vocal duties among themselves. Roy Wood
Roy Wood (born 8 November 1946) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He was particularly successful in the 1960s and 1970s as member and co-founder of the Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard. Wood formed the Move in 1965, and had hits including " Flowers in the Rain". While the Move were still together, Wood, along with his band colleagues Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan, founded Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), which was later to gain major commercial success. After increasing tensions, Wood left ELO in 1972 and formed a new group, Wizzard, who had seven hits, including Wood's most regularly broadcast song, " I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day". As a songwriter, Wood contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of the Move, ELO and Wizzard. "Mighty Wings" is a song by American rock band Cheap Trick, which was released in 1986 as the third single from the soundtrack of the film ''Top Gun''. It was written by Harold Faltermeyer and Mark Spiro, and produced by Faltermeyer. Despite the commercial success of the ''Top Gun'' soundtrack, and unlike the four other singles culled from the album, "Mighty Wings" failed to make an appearance in the ''Billboard'' chart.
