Flipper (1964 TV Series)
''Flipper'' is an American television program broadcast on NBC from September 19, 1964, until April 15, 1967. Flipper, a bottlenose dolphin, is the pet of Porter Ricks, chief warden at Coral Key Park and Marine Preserve (a fictional version of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, Florida), and his two young sons, Sandy and Bud. The show has been dubbed an "aquatic ''Lassie (1954 TV series), Lassie''", and a considerable amount of children's merchandise inspired by the show was produced during its first run. Production The television show is an extension of the 1963 film ''Flipper (1963 film), Flipper'' starring Chuck Connors and Luke Halpin as Porter and Sandy Ricks, and of its 1964 sequel, ''Flipper's New Adventure''. Ventriloquism or ventriloquy is an act of stagecraft in which a person (a ventriloquist) speaks in such a way that it seems like their voice is coming from a different location, usually through a puppet known as a "dummy". Denise Marie Nickerson (April 1, 1957 – July 10, 2019) was an American actress. Starting her career as a child actress, at the age of 13, she starred as Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film ''Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory''. Fred Patrick Henning (July 5, 1908 – April 28, 1973) was an American character actor, best known for playing Kayo Dugan in ''On The Waterfront'' (1954). Henning was born in Boston as one of the fourth generation of a theatrical family. He first appeared on stage in a baby carriage at the age of two months as part of a vaudeville show.
