Sworn In (band)
Sworn In was an American metalcore band from Grayslake, Illinois. The band was formed in 2011 and split up in 2022. They were signed to Razor & Tie from May 2013 to the summer of 2016. History Prior to Sworn In, vocalist Tyler Dennen played guitar in a local Grayslake band named Shift Into Focus along with drummer Chris George and guitarist Eugene Kamlyuk. When the group disbanded, these three sought to start a new band known as ''Buried by the Ocean''. Buried by the Ocean began playing local shows in high school before the band later changed their name to Sworn In. Sworn In then played their first show under the new name in March 2011. The following month, the band released their first EP titled ''Catharsis'', after this release Dennen left the band. Guitarist Kamlyuk then fronted the band at this point and recorded vocals for the band's second EP titled ''Start/End'', which was released in 2012. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Razor & Tie
Razor & Tie was an American entertainment company that consisted of a record label and a music publishing company. It was established in 1990 by Craig Balsam and Cliff Chenfeld. Based in New York City (with additional offices in Los Angeles and Nashville), Razor & Tie releases were distributed by Universal Music Group. Razor & Tie initially focused on compilation albums and re-issues. Directly marketed through television spots, the label had early success with 70s, 80s and 90s-themed albums, beginning with ''Those Fabulous 70s'' in 1990. He is the former and original drummer of Solid State Records band MyChildren MyBride. ''The Lovers/The Devil'' is the second album from American metalcore band Sworn In. It was released by Razor & Tie Recordings on April 7, 2015. Concept According to frontman Tyler Dennen, ''The Lovers/The Devil'' is a 2-part concept album about a girl. The first part, titled ''The Lovers'', covers the first 7 tracks, while the second part, named ''The Devil'', covers the remaining 6 tracks. It progresses around a love story between an obsessive, romantic, emotionally unstable boy and a bitter, distant and cold girl. Halfway through the album, the roles are reversed as the boy becomes cold and distant after he realizes the girl does not love him back; and the girl realizes she made a mistake and goes on to solve it. Dennen cited as an inspiration for the album the bad relationship between his parents and bad relationships he himself has gone through. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists.
