The Day Shall Come
''The Day Shall Come'' is a 2019 black comedy film directed by Chris Morris and written by Morris and Jesse Armstrong. It stars Marchánt Davis, Anna Kendrick, Danielle Brooks and Denis O'Hare. The film satirises a number of real-life FBI sting operations including the Liberty City Seven. It had its world premiere at South by Southwest on 11 March 2019. It was released in the United States on 27 September 2019, by IFC Films, and in the United Kingdom on 11 October 2019, by Entertainment One. Plot Moses Al Shabazz is the impoverished leader of a small religious commune, the Star of Six, in Miami. The commune has three other members: Moses's wife Venus, and followers X and Afrika. It worships deities including Allah, "Black Santa", and General Toussaint Louverture. Moses preaches a black uprising against the white oppressors, but opposes the use of firearms. Chris Morris (satirist)
Christopher J. Morris (born 15 June 1962) is an English comedian, radio presenter, actor and filmmaker. Known for his deadpan, dark humour, surrealism and controversial subject matter, he has been praised by the British Film Institute for his "uncompromising, moralistic drive". Morris teamed up with his radio producer Armando Iannucci in the early 1990s to create '' On the Hour'', a satire of news programmes. A television spin off, '' The Day Today'', launched the career of comedian Steve Coogan and was hailed as one of the most important satirical shows of the 1990s. Liberty City Seven
The Liberty City Seven were seven construction workers and members of a small Miami, Florida-based religious group who called themselves the Universal Divine Saviors. Described as a "bizarre cult," the seven were arrested and charged with terrorism-related offenses in 2006 by a Federal Bureau of Investigation sting investigation although their actual operational capability was extremely low and their intentions were unclear. The members of the group operated out of a small warehouse in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City.
