The DFA Remixes – Chapter One
''The DFA Remixes'' is a series of two remix compilations by influential dance-punk production duo The DFA ( James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy). Unlike previous DFA releases, these are remixes of other artists' work. The first album in the series, ''Chapter One'', was released on 27 March 2006 in the UK and 4 April 2006 in the US. The second album, ''Chapter Two'', was released on the 2 October 2006 in the UK and 3 October in the US. The series was released on CD and vinyl with different track listings. Remix Album
A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson ('' Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's '' Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). History and concept '' Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'' (1971) by Harry Nilsson is credited as the first remix album. It was released after the successes of " Everybody's Talkin'" and '' The Point!'', when he decided that his older material had started to sound dated. James Jeremiah Murphy (born February 4, 1970) is an American musician, DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His most well-known musical project is LCD Soundsystem, which first gained attention with its single "Losing My Edge" in 2002 before releasing its LCD Soundsystem (album), eponymous debut album in February 2005 to critical acclaim and top 20 success in the UK. LCD Soundsystem's second and third studio albums, ''Sound of Silver'' (2007) and ''This Is Happening'' (2010) respectively, were praised by several music review outlets. Nine Inch Nails, commonly abbreviated as NIN (stylized as NIИ), is an American industrial rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1988. Junior Senior was a Danish pop duo. Hot Chip
Hot Chip is an English synth-pop band formed in London in 2000. The group consists of multi-instrumentalists Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard (musician), Joe Goddard, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke, and Felix Martin. They are occasionally joined by former member Rob Smoughton for live performances and studio recordings. The group primarily produces music in the synth-pop and alternative dance genres, drawing influences from house music, house and disco. The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands in Manchester in 1992. They were pioneers in bringing the big beat genre to the forefront of pop culture. Originally known as The Dust Brothers, they changed their name due to the existence of another band with the same name.
