The Corridor People
''The Corridor People'' is a British television series that was produced by Granada Television for the ITV network in 1966, devised and written by Edward Boyd. A surreal black-and-white detective series, ''The Corridor People'' pitched security agent Kronk ( John Sharp) against exotic villainess Syrie Van Epp (Elizabeth Shepherd) over the course of four episodes. The series has been released on DVD in the form of electronic conversions from 405 to 625-line video. Thriller (genre)
Thriller is a genre of fiction, having numerous, often overlapping subgenres. Thrillers are characterized and defined by the moods they elicit, giving viewers heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety. Successful examples of thrillers are the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Thrillers generally keep the audience on the "edge of their seats" as the plot builds towards a climax. Edward Boyd (1916 – 17 December 1989) was a Scotland, Scottish writer best known for his television and radio work. He worked with the Glasgow Unity Theatre in the 1940s.Glasgow University Collection Later he moved into radio and TV. In the 1960s he created series such as ''The Odd Man'' and ''The Corridor People'' for Granada TV, and wrote for a number of shows including ''Z-Cars'' on the BBC. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network. ITV Granada, formerly known as Granada Television, is the ITV franchisee for the North West of England and Isle of Man. From 1956 to 1968 it broadcast to both the north west and Yorkshire but only on weekdays as ABC Weekend Television was its weekend counterpart.
