''The Collection'' is a compilation album by Christian music singer Amy Grant, released in 1986 (see 1986 in music). ''The Collection'' was the first compilation of Grant's music to be released, and it was issued after her crossover success in 1985 with the album '' Unguarded''. ''The Collection'' spanned Grant's first decade in music, and featured the new songs " Stay for Awhile" and "Love Can Do", the former of which was a Top Twenty Adult Contemporary hit in the United States. Release ''The Collection'' was originally released in two different versions: a cassette version and an LP version. The LP version was directed to her newer fans, who knew her primarily for her Top 40 pop hit " Find a Way". Amy Lee Grant (born November 25, 1960) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She began in contemporary Christian music (CCM) before crossing over to pop music in the 1980s and 1990s. ''In Concert'' is a live album by Christian singer Amy Grant, released in 1981 on Myrrh Records. ''In Concert'' was the first album of a double live set, the other being '' In Concert Volume Two'', which was released later that year. Although the two should have been issued as a double album, budget problems forced the two to be released separately. ''In Concert'' featured two new songs: "Mimi's House" and "Singing a Love Song", the latter became a Top Ten Christian radio hit. It was re-released in 2007 by Sparrow Records. El Shaddai (song)
"El Shaddai" (sometimes styled "El-Shaddai") is a contemporary Christian music song. It was written by Michael Card and John Thompson, using direct quotes from scripture as their inspiration, and recorded by Card on his 1981 debut album, ''Legacy''. However, the best known version of the song was by singer Amy Grant, whose rendition was recorded in 1982 on her platinum-certified album ''Age to Age''. The title comes from a Judaic name of God, usually translated as "God Almighty" (see El Shaddai). Approximately half the lyrics of the chorus are in the Hebrew language, which is rather unusual for a contemporary Christian song. The recording was in the style of a performance ballad, but the song was subsequently published in some hymnbooks and is occasionally sung congregationally. Gary Winther Chapman (born August 19, 1957) is an American contemporary Christian music singer-songwriter and former television talk show host. Early life and music career Born in Waurika, Oklahoma, Chapman grew up in De Leon, Texas, the son of an Assemblies of God pastor, the Rev. Terry W. Chapman, who ministered for 56 years before his death in 2009. Chapman performed in bands throughout high school and college.
