''The Cognitive Rules'' is the 2011 EP by British singer-songwriter RJ Thompson. It was released on 4 December 2011 and serves as the follow-up to his 2007 Acoustic Sessions EP. The EP was recorded at Trinity Heights in Newcastle upon Tyne, and mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios. Singles RJ released two singles in the year, 2011 (''A Better Life'' and ''When I Get Old''), and both tracks were released on the EP The Cognitive Rules later that same year. RJ Thompson
RJ Thompson (born 25 June 1985) is a British singer-songwriter. Thompson came to prominence in 2014 after touring as support act for UK pianist Jools Holland, performing at venues including the Royal Albert Hall. Biography Early life and career beginnings (1985–2010) RJ Thompson grew up in the North East of England. He wrote his first song after witnessing a U2 concert at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Following an open mic night at The Studio in Hartlepool in 2004, he was asked to open the show the following night for Live Aid organiser Midge Ure. During this time period Thompson was working on an album entitled '' Illogical Life'', which was released to the public in 2006. Whilst released via an indie label, Thompson considers the album to be more like a "collection of demos" rather than his first studio record, as explained in a radio interview with Radio Teesdale. ''House Upon the Hill'' is a 2014 EP by British singer-songwriter RJ Thompson. It was released on 24 November 2014 and serves as the follow-up to his 2011 EP The Cognitive Rules. The EP was recorded at Blast Recording and Loft Music Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne, and mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios. Abbey Road Studios
Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. It is ultimately owned by UMG subsidiary Virgin Records Limited (until 2013 by EMI Records Limited, nowadays known as Parlophone Records and owned by UMG's competitor Warner Music Group).
