The Cizek Model One
The Cizek Model One was the first HIFI product of CIZEK Audio System, a two-way bookshelf loudspeaker system which gave a certain notoriety to Roy Cizek, founder of the company. This product was important because it was the first loudspeaker system which, due to its particular crossover, showed a flat impedance curve (except for the resonance peak) with a consequent easier work for the amplifier and linear frequency response. A loudspeaker (commonly referred to as a speaker or speaker driver) is an electroacoustic transducer that converts an electrical audio signal into a corresponding sound. Roy Cizek
Fred Roy Cizek (January 29, 1943 – April 12, 1993) was an American inventor, High fidelity, hi-fi designer, and manufacturer. As the founder of CIZEK Audio System in Andover, Massachusetts, he became fairly well known in the audiophile world, especially in Italy, during the late 1970s for his company's high-quality Loudspeaker, speakers. Before starting his own business, Cizek worked for historical hi-fi manufacturers, such as Acoustic Research, JBL (company), JBL, and Altec Lansing. Blind since the age of three, he developed a special sensitivity for music reproduction and patented a special crossover to ensure a flat impedance curve to his speakers. Audio crossovers are a type of electronic filter circuitry that splits an audio signal into two or more frequency ranges, so that the signals can be sent to loudspeaker drivers that are designed to operate within different frequency ranges. Q Factor
In physics and engineering, the quality factor or ''Q'' factor is a dimensionless parameter that describes how underdamped an oscillator or resonator is. It is defined as the ratio of the initial energy stored in the resonator to the energy lost in one radian of the cycle of oscillation. Q factor is alternatively defined as the ratio of a resonator's centre frequency to its bandwidth when subject to an oscillating driving force. These two definitions give numerically similar, but not identical, results. Higher ''Q'' indicates a lower rate of energy loss and the oscillations die out more slowly.
