''The Children of Noisy Village'' () is a Swedish film which was released to cinemas in Sweden on 6 December 1986, directed by Lasse Hallström, based on the books about ''The Six Bullerby Children'' by Astrid Lindgren. A sequel, ''More About the Children of Noisy Village'', premiered the following year. Both films were later reworked into a seven-episode TV-series that was broadcast in 1989. Lasse Hallström
Lars Sven "Lasse" Hallström (; born 2 June 1946) is a Swedish film director. He first became known for directing almost all the music videos by the pop music, pop group ABBA, but came to international attention with his 1985 feature film ''My Life as a Dog'', for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director. He is also known for ''What's Eating Gilbert Grape'' (1993), ''The Cider House Rules (film), The Cider House Rules'' (1999), and ''Chocolat (2000 film), Chocolat'' (2000). Georg Riedel (jazz Musician)
Georg Riedel (8 January 1934 – 25 February 2024) was a Czechoslovak-born Swedish double bass player and composer. Riedel migrated to Sweden at the age of four and attended school in Stockholm, including the Adolf Fredrik's Music School. The best known recording featuring Riedel is probably Jan Johansson's '' Jazz på svenska'' (''Jazz in Swedish''), a minimalist-jazz compilation of folk songs recorded in 1962–1963, though Riedel recorded with other leading Swedish musicians including trumpeter Jan Allan and Arne Domnérus. Riedel's profile as a composer derives almost exclusively from writing music for Astrid Lindgren movies, including the main theme from the ''Emil i Lönneberga'' ("Emil of Maple Hills") movies. ''Now That Night Is Near'' (original title: ''Alla ska sova'') is a children's book written by Astrid Lindgren and illustrated by Marit Törnqvist. It includes Lindgren's song of the same name. Plot On a Swedish summer evening, the reader follows a cat on a magical walk along some beautiful landscapes. The cat sees lambs and other small animals who would rather play than sleep. Only when twilight turns to night all animals seem to fall asleep. The cat also returns home and goes to sleep. Background Astrid Lindgren originally wrote the song for the film '' The Children of Noisy Village''. In the film, the girls sing two verses of the song when they spend the night in the hayloft. The music was composed by Georg Riedel. When the artist Marit Törnqvist heard the song at Astrid Lindgren's funeral in 2002, she decided to create a picture book based on the lyrics. Waldemar Bergendahl (18 April 1933 – 21 March 2022) was a Swedish film director, film editor, film producer, cinematographer and screenwriter. Bergendahl is best known as the producer behind the films based on novels by Astrid Lindgren. Life and career Bergendahl was born in April 1933 in Årsunda. He grew up on a farm between Årsunda and Gästrike-Hammarby. His parents were farmers with cows, horses, chickens, pigs and many other animals. Bergendahl later went to University in Gävle. Then he moved to Stockholm. In 1957 Bergendahl lived along with the production manager of Europafilm in an apartment in Stockholm. The production manager told Bergendahl to apply for a job at the film company.
