The Box Comedy
Comedy Central is a Dutch pay television channel based on the American channel of the same name. The channel is available on cable, digital terrestrial, IPTV, and satellite operators in the Netherlands. It broadcasts many imports as well as original programming. History The Box (1995–2006) The Box was originally a Dutch music channel, which allowed viewers to vote on music videos. It launched in June 1995 and was founded by a joint venture between Video Jukebox Network and Quote Media. The Box was taken over by the German music television network VIVA Media in 2002. In June 2004, The Box was acquired by MTV Networks Benelux of Viacom. On 1 December 2006 The Box's airtime was shortened, coinciding with Nickelodeon's move from the channel Talpa (now RTL 8) to The Box channel. 4K resolution refers to a horizontal display resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels. Digital television and digital cinematography commonly use several different 4K resolutions. Digitenne is the Dutch digital terrestrial television platform. It is owned by KPN. Digitenne uses the DVB-T2 standard. The national public television channels NPO 1, NPO 2, NPO 3 and the regional public television channels are free-to-air. For all other television channels a subscription is required. History Development Nozema, a Dutch telecommunication company which provided infrastructure and broadcast transmission facilities, began developing DVB-T in the Netherlands in 1993. In September 1996 the company presented the system during the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. From December 1997 test transmissions were made via the Lopik transmitter. ''SpongeBob SquarePants'' is an American animated television series, animated comedy television series created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. It first aired as a sneak peek after the 1999 Kids' Choice Awards on May 1, 1999, and officially premiered on July 17, 1999. RTL 8 is a Dutch free-to-cable television channel that was launched on 18 August 2007 replacing Tien, previously known as Talpa. RTL 8's main target audience consists of women. It broadcasts soap operas, talk shows, films and reruns of programmes from its sister RTL channels. In the mornings and late afternoons children's channel RTL Telekids is broadcasting on RTL 8. Officially RTL 5 - along with RTL 4, RTL 7 and RTL 8 - is headquartered in Hilversum, broadcasting with a Luxembourg TV license. Tien (TV Channel)
Talpa/Tien (meaning '' Ten'' in Dutch), previously known as Talpa, was the name of a commercial television channel in the Netherlands. Tien opened on 13 August 2005 as Talpa by Talpa Holding Company, following a name dispute with SBS Broadcasting. SBS Broadcasting owned the trademark " TV10" and objected to the use of the word Tien. The owner of Tien, Dutch media mogul John de Mol, decided to rebrand the channel as ''Talpa'', the Latin word for "mole", which is ''mol'' in Dutch. Subsequently Talpa became the name of De Mol's holding company. In the first months Talpa shared its channel space with Nickelodeon.
