Lansbury called it a "thriller" adding "Leslie Rees and I decided there'd been enough about Scotland Yard and the FBI, we'd have an Australian thriller for a change." Coral Magnolia Lansbury (14 October 1929 – 3 April 1991) was an Australian-born feminist writer and academic. Working in the United States from 1969 until her death, she became Distinguished Professor of English and Dean of Graduate Studies at Rutgers University. A former child actor and scriptwriter, Lansbury was the author of several works of fiction and non-fiction. The latter included ''The Reasonable Man: Trollope's Legal Fiction'' (1970), ''Elizabeth Gaskell: The Novel of Social Crisis'' (1975), and ''The Old Brown Dog: Women, Workers, and Vivisection in Edwardian England'' (1985). Her best-known novel was ''The Grotto'' (1989). Lansbury's son, Malcolm Turnbull, became the 29th Prime Minister of Australia. Leslie Rees (writer)
George Leslie Clarke Rees (28 December 1905 – 17 August 2000) also known as Leslie Clarence Rees, was an Australian writer of children's literature, travel books and drama, as well as publishing numerous article and essays. His most critically acclaimed work was the "Making of Australian Drama" in two volumes, covering the history of the genre from the 1830s until 1985. He was best known as the drama editor at the Australian Broadcasting Commission from 1936 and 1966. Career Rees was born in Perth, Western Australia and attended Perth Modern School and then the University of Western Australia, where he edited the student magazine, ''Black Swan''. He then worked for The West Australian as a journalist before travelling to London to study at University College on a scholarship.
