The Bomb Bassets
The Bomb Bassets were an American rock and roll band formed by brothers Dallas Denery of Sweet Baby and John Denery of The Hi-Fives, Mr. T Experience frontman Dr. Frank and producer Kevin Army on bass; they were joined by Mr. T Experience drummer, Jim Pittman. Bass player Joel Reader later joined the band for their 1997 full-length record, making the entire Mr T. Experience members of the band at that point. In 1995 the band released two separately titled EP:s through Lookout Records. Please Don't Die' included four songs and was released only as a vinyl 7-inch while the CD-EP Dress Rehearsal' had a cover of similar style, included the same four songs and three bonus tracks not found on the vinyl. Sweet Baby (band)
Sweet Baby (originally known as Sweet Baby Jesus) was a pop punk band that originated from Berkeley, California, and was part of the 924 Gilman Street scene. They were signed to Ruby Records. Formed in 1986 by singer Dallas Denery and singer/guitarist Matt Buenrostro with Crispy Jim (later of The Saddlebacks) on bass and Dr. Frank (the frontman of The Mr. T Experience) on drums. Frank and Crispy Jim did not appear on any Sweet Baby recordings, having been already replaced by Sergie Loobkoff (Samiam, Knapsack) and Richie Bucher (Jüke, Wynona Ryders), respectively. Aaron Elliott aka Aaron Cometbus also played drums for them on their 1989 US tour. They had two songs on the Maximum Rock and Roll compilation ''Turn it Around'' (1988), "She's from Salinas" and "Pathetic." The Hi-Fives are an American rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area. History The band was formed in 1994 after drummer Al Sobrante (John Kiffmeyer) left the previous incarnations, The Ne'er Do Wells and Thee Shatners. Sobrante was replaced by drummer Julie Rose, formerly of Red No.9. Julie remained with the band through the recording of the first Lookout! Records album Welcome To My Mind. The title track was a minor hit on college radio and modern rock stations. Julie left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Evan Mendell from Benicia. The band was asked to open for Green Day during the 1994 Dookie tour, along with Pansy Division. Evan left the band after the tour and was replaced by Danny Seelig from The Phantom Surfers. Frank Portman (born September 21, 1964), better known by the pseudonym Dr. Frank, is an American musician, singer, guitarist, and author. He is the singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the Berkeley, California punk rock band The Mr. T Experience, and has remained the only consistent member of the band since its formation in 1985, performing on ten studio albums and five EPs. He has also recorded and performed as a solo artist, releasing the album '' Show Business is My Life'' in 1999 and the EP ''Eight Little Songs'' in 2003. In recent years he has pursued a writing career in young adult literature, authoring the novels ''King Dork'' (2006), ''Andromeda Klein'' (2009), and ''King Dork Approximately'' (2014). Lookout Records (stylized as Lookout! Records) was an independent record label, initially based in Laytonville, California and later in Berkeley, focusing on punk rock. Established in 1987, the label is best known for having released Operation Ivy’s only album, ''Energy'', and Green Day's first two albums, ''39/Smooth'' and ''Kerplunk''. Following the departure of co-founder Larry Livermore in 1997, the label departed from its "East Bay sound" and proved unable to match early success. In 2005 the label ran into financial difficulties after several high-profile artists rescinded the rights to their Lookout Records material.
