The ''Bekhterev Review of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology'' () is a Russian peer-reviewed journals, peer-reviewed medical journal containing original research, systematic reviews, etc. relating to the areas of psychiatry, medical psychology and psychotherapy. History In 1896 Vladimir Bekhterev, the great Russian neuropathologist, created a new Russian journal under the title ''Overview of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology'' (). It was named after him in 1927. But after he had died, the journal ceased publication. In 1990, the USSR State Committee for Publishing made a resolution to reestablish the journal. Later on, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation included the ''Bekhterev Review of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology'' in the list of leading journals and publications. Higher Attestation Commission (, , abbreviated Cyrillic: ВАК, Latin: VAK) is a name of a national government agency in Russia, Ukraine and some other post-Soviet states that oversees awarding of advanced academic degrees. Due to translation differences, these committees are sometimes translated as the "State Supreme Certification Commission" or other similar variation; the common Cyrillic-based acronym of VAK remains a constant with all versions. A commission of a similar kind () operated in Bulgaria until 2010, when it was abolished as part of a reorganisation of academic structures. On December 9, 2010, the Higher Education Commission of Ukraine was merged into the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP) is a Vienna-based umbrella organisation for some 430 European psychotherapist organizations (including 33 national associations, 18 European associations and 80 EAP accredited training institutes) from 43 countries with a membership of more than 120,000 psychotherapists. Individual members may also join the organisation directly rather than through one of its member organisations. Boris Dmitrievich Karvasarsky (; 3 February 1931 – 24 September 2013) was a Russian psychiatrist, a disciple of Vladimir Nikolayevich Myasishchev, V. N. Myasishchev. Biography Education Karvasarsky was born in Derazhnia, Ukrainian SSR, Ukraine, on 3 February 1931. In 1954 he graduated from S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy. Then he completed postgraduate courses in the Bekhterev Psychoneurological Institute and was awarded the Degree of Candidate of Science in 1961. He attained his M. D. degree at the age of 37 (in 1968). Scientific work Karvasarsky headed the Department of Neuroses and Psychotherapy in the Bekhterev Research Institute from 1961 until his death.
