The Bearcat
''The Bearcat'' is a 1922 American silent Western film, now considered lost. It was directed by Edward Sedgwick and featured Hoot Gibson in the lead role. Plot As described in a film magazine, The Singin' Kid rides into town after a brief sojourn south of the border where he had been hiding because of an unjust charge. While employed as a "runner" on a ranch where he discovers a plot to mulct his employer. He frustrates the plan, exposes a trick that attempted to railroad him into jail, and discloses the worthlessness of Archer Aitken, lover of the ranch owner's daughter Alys May. Edward Sedgwick, Jr. (November 7, 1889 – May 7, 1953) was an American film director, screenwriter, writer, actor and film producer, producer. Early life He was born in Galveston, Texas, the son of Edward Sedgwick, Sr. and Josephine Walker, both stage actors. At the age of four, young Edward Sedgwick joined his show business family in what was then the Sedgwick Comedy Company, a vaudeville act, doing a "singing speciality". He played child parts and did vaudeville acts until he was seven, when he was given his first comedy part, that of an Irish immigrant, in a comedy written by his father called ''Just Over''. Fontaine La Rue
Matilda Fernández, stage name Fontaine La Rue (July 18, 1890 in Hermosillo, Mexico – September 13, 1964) was an American silent film actress appearing in films from 1918 to 1929. Her career ended with the advent of talkies. She was one of seven children born to Diego and Carlotta Monreal Fernandez. After immigrating to the United States in 1907, Matilda married Victor Garcia Rojas. The couple had three children, Victor Paul, Matilda Garcia, and Victoria Grace. After the couple divorced, Matilda entered show business. She got her start on stage as a toe dancer and in musical comedy. She toured with the Trimble Musical Comedy Company in 1914 before breaking into films the following year in comedy shorts for Keystone.
