''The Artist'' is an upcoming seven-part American murder mystery television series set during the Gilded Age starring an ensemble cast including Mandy Patinkin, Janet McTeer, Danny Huston, Patti LuPone, Hank Azaria, and Zachary Quinto. It is set to broadcast on The Network in 2025. Premise A historical fiction murder mystery set in the Gilded Age has an ensemble of the era's celebrities including Thomas Edison, Edgar Degas and Evelyn Nesbit at the home of an eccentric tycoon who promptly dies. Mandy Patinkin
Mandel "Mandy" Bruce Patinkin (; born November 30, 1952) is an American actor and singer, known for his work in musical theatre, television, and film. As a critically acclaimed Broadway (theatre), Broadway performer he has collaborated with Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Patinkin's leading roles on stage and screen have earned him numerous accolades including a Tony Award and a Primetime Emmy Award as well as nominations for seven Drama Desk Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Edgar Degas (, ; born Hilaire-Germain-Edgar De Gas, ; 19 July 183427 September 1917) was a French Impressionist artist famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings. Degas also produced bronze sculptures, prints, and drawings. Degas is especially identified with the subject of dance; more than half of his works depict dancers. Nora Bayes (born Rachel Eleonora "Dora" Goldberg; October 3, 1880March 19, 1928) was an American singer and vaudeville performer who was popular internationally between the 1900s and 1920s. Harry Kendall Thaw
Harry Kendall Thaw (February 12, 1871 – February 22, 1947) was the son of American coal and railroad baron William Thaw Sr. Heir to a multimillion-dollar fortune, he is most notable for having murdered the renowned architect Stanford White in front of hundreds of witnesses at the rooftop theatre of New York City's Madison Square Garden (1890), Madison Square Garden on June 25, 1906. Thaw had harbored an obsessive hatred of White, believing he had blocked Thaw's access to the social elite of New York. White also had a previous relationship with Thaw's wife, the model and chorus girl Evelyn Nesbit, when she was 16 or 17.
