The Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago. The band's current members are Matt Skiba (guitar, vocals), Dan Andriano (bass, vocals), and Atom Willard (drums). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials (song), Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano, who occupied the role of co-lead vocalist alongside Skiba. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Following the release of the band's second album, ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' (2000), Porter left the band and was replaced by Mike Felumlee for its subsequent album, ''From Here to Infirmary'' (2001). Maybe I'll Catch Fire
''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' is the second studio album by the American punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released on March 14, 2000 on Asian Man Records. Produced by Matt Allison, it was the band's final studio album with founding drummer Glenn Porter and their last album with Asian Man Records. After recording the album, Porter was replaced by former Smoking Popes drummer Mike Felumlee, who made his stage debut in December 1999. The band promoted the album with an appearance on the 2000 Plea for Peace Tour in June and July of that year. Reception By August 2008, the album sold 85,000 copies. Mike DaRonco of Allmusic liked the album, but less than the band's previous effort, 1998's ''Goddamnit'', saying that "Lyrically, ''Maybe I'll Catch Fire'' follows in the footsteps of ''Goddamnit'', while staying true to the elaborate but emotional tone of aggressive pop-punk. My Shame Is True
''My Shame Is True'' is the eighth studio album by Chicago-based rock band Alkaline Trio, released on April 2, 2013 on Heart & Skull and Epitaph Records. Produced by both Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore, the album was preceded by the single, " I Wanna Be a Warhol", and was released with an accompanying EP, '' Broken Wing'', featuring four additional songs recorded during the same sessions. Inspired by a recent romantic break-up, vocalist and guitarist Matt Skiba described the record as a "pseudo-concept album" and a catharsis," stating, "I just wrote this one more as a love letter to my ex-girlfriend, or an apology note set to music." Following the album's release, Skiba noted that the album brought the couple back together. The album received mostly favorable reviews upon its release. Acoustic Music
Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. While all music was once acoustic, the retronym "acoustic music" appeared after the advent of electric instruments, such as the electric guitar, electric violin, electric organ and synthesizer. Acoustic string instrumentations had long been a subset of popular music, particularly in folk. It stood in contrast to various other types of music in various eras, including big band music in the pre-rock era, and electric music in the rock era. Damnesia
''Damnesia'' is an album by the punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released July 12, 2011 through their label Heart & Skull, a joint venture with Epitaph Records. A primarily acoustic album, it consists of "a selection of beloved fan favorites selected from the group's extensive catalogue and presented in an intimate semi-unplugged format". The album also includes two new songs, "Olde English 800" and "I Remember a Rooftop", as well as a cover version of the Violent Femmes' "I Held Her in My Arms". A music video consisting of studio footage was released for the song "Clavicle", and the band has embarked a fifteenth-anniversary United States tour in support of the album. ''Agony & Irony'' is the sixth studio album and major label debut by American punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released July 1, 2008, on Epic Records. Produced by Josh Abraham, the album was preceded by the single " Help Me". Background On October 12, 2006, the band announced they had signed with major label V2 Records. In addition, it was mentioned that the band was working on new songs, and was aiming to record a new album in early 2007. However, in January 2007, V2 went through a restructuring process which left the fate of its acts unknown. Drummer Derek Grant said the band had 18 songs, which they were in the process of demoing in Los Angeles, California. Overdubs
Overdubbing (also known as layering) is a technique used in audio recording in which audio tracks that have been pre-recorded are then played back and monitored, while simultaneously recording new, doubled, or augmented tracks onto one or more available tracks of a digital audio workstation (DAW) or tape recorder. The overdub process can be repeated multiple times. This technique is often used with singers, as well as with instruments, or ensembles/orchestras. Overdubbing is typically done for the purpose of adding richness and complexity to the original recording. For example, if there are only one or two artists involved in the recording process, overdubbing can give the effect of sounding like many performers. ''Crimson'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Alkaline Trio. Produced by Jerry Finn, it was released on May 24, 2005, by Vagrant. Recording Recording took place at Conway Studios in Los Angeles, California, with producer Jerry Finn between November 2004 and January 2005. Ryan Hewitt engineered the sessions with assistance from Seth Waldmann. A few people contributed to the recordings: Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (piano and keyboards), Nolan McGuire (guitar on "Sadie"), Heather Hannoura (spoken word on "Sadie") and Warren Fitzgerald (additional string arrangements). ''Good Mourning'' is the fourth studio album by American punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released May 13, 2003 on Vagrant Records. Background and production Towards the end of May 2002, the band recorded their next album; they "decided that waiting until after Warped Tour would be too long." Recording sessions were held at Cello Studios with producers Joe McGrath and Jerry Finn. The album marks the first appearance of drummer Derek Grant, described by vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba as "a whole new influence." During recording, both Skiba and vocalist/bassist Dan Andriano were ill. Alkaline Trio had planned a tour with One Man Army in early 2003, but the tour was cancelled due to Skiba having strained vocal cords; the album's recording was subsequently delayed.
