The Albert
The Albert is a Grade II listed pub located at 52 Victoria Street in Victoria, London, about southwest of Westminster Abbey. Built in 1862 by the Artillery Brewery, the pub retains its striking façade and Victorian features that were undamaged during The Blitz in World War II. The Albert was named in tribute to Queen Victoria's husband, Albert, Prince Consort. History The Albert was built in 1862 on Victoria Street on the site of an earlier pub called The Blue Coat Boy, which was first recorded in 1831. This earlier pub—named after the famous charity school nearby—was purchased for £978 () by the Artillery Brewery in the mid-nineteenth century. Victoria is an area of Westminster, Central London in the City of Westminster. It is named after Victoria Station, which is a major transport hub. The station was named after the nearby Victoria Street, opened 1851. A craft or trade is a pastime or an occupation that requires particular skills and knowledge of skilled work.
