The A.M.
The A.M. was an American rock band from New York City formed in 2002 by rock musician Michael Tighe, formerly of the Jeff Buckley Band. Members also included bassist Andrew Wyatt and drummer Parker Kindred. History After Jeff Buckley's death, Michael Tighe and Parker Kindred formed Black Beetle, along with Buckley's former girlfriend Joan Wasser. When Black Beetle split, with Wasser embarking on a solo career, Tighe and Kindred formed The A.M., along with bassist Andrew Wyatt. Their self-titled album was issued in 2003 on Storm Music. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge, shoegaze, and Britpop subgenres in the United States and United Kingdom, respectively. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. Storm Music
''Storm Music'' is a 1934 novel by the English author Dornford Yates (Cecil William Mercer). It was first serialised in ''Woman's Journal'' (December 1933 to April 1934, illustrated by Forster) and ''Woman's Home Companion'' (December 1933 to May 1934, under the title ''Bright With Peril'', illustrated by Frederick Chapman). Plot John Spencer (narrator) witnesses the burial of a murdered servant. Spencer identifies the man's employer as Lady Helena, tells her of the murder, and becomes her lover. A criminal gang attempt to steal the gold bullion secreted in the cellar of her home, the castle at Yorick. Background This was another variation on Mercer's old theme of a castle with treasure. Mercer's autobiographer AJ Smithers, writing in 1982, suggested that “the faithful knew what they were buying without bothering to look at it". Andrew Wyatt
Andrew Wyatt Blakemore is an American musician, songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, he began his career playing in New York bands such as The A.M. and Black Beetle. He gained wider notability as the frontman of the Swedish electronic pop band Miike Snow, which released its acclaimed debut album in 2009. Since that time, Wyatt has released two other with the band as well as his solo debut ''Descender'' on Downtown Records in 2013. Wyatt has worked with other artists, writing and/or producing songs with artists including Liam Gallagher, Lady Gaga, Lorde, Bruno Mars and others. As a songwriter, Wyatt has been nominated for the Song of the Year Grammy Award twice. Parker Kindred
Parker Kindred is an American drummer who played in the band of Jeff Buckley, appearing on his unfinished second album, ''Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk'' in 1997, as well as playing live with Buckley and the rest of his band at Arlene's Grocery on February 9, 1997. Kindred was introduced to Buckley through Mick Grøndahl, then Buckley's bassist, as a permanent replacement for Eric Eidel after mainstay drummer Matt Johnson left the band at the end of the Australian leg of the tour. After Buckley's death Kindred continued to work with the other band members on other projects in New York City. Kindred, with Michael Tighe and Buckley's then-girlfriend, Joan Wasser, formed Black Beetle. Shortly after Wasser embarked on a solo career and the band split up. Jeff Buckley
Jeffrey Scott Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997), raised as Scott Moorhead, was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. After a decade as a session guitarist in Los Angeles, Buckley amassed a following in the early 1990s by performing cover songs at venues in East Village, Manhattan, such as Sin-é, while gradually focusing more on his own material. Joan Wasser (born July 26, 1970) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and producer who releases music as Joan As Police Woman. She began her career playing violin with the Dambuilders and played with Black Beetle, Antony and the Johnsons, and Those Bastard Souls. Since 2004 she has released her solo material as Joan As Police Woman. She has released five regular studio albums, one EP, a number of singles and two albums of cover songs. Glam Rock
Glam rock is a style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s and was performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform shoes and glitter. Joy Division
Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The Smiths
The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. They comprised the singer Morrissey, the guitarist Johnny Marr, the bassist Andy Rourke and the drummer Mike Joyce. Suede (band)
Suede (also known in the US as The London Suede) are an English rock band formed in London in 1989 by singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Justine Frischmann, and bass player Mat Osman.
