Tharuhat
Tharuwan is also the homeland of Tharu people in Terai region of Nepal. It comprises the 11 southwestern Terai districts of Nepal. Tharuhat was proposed Tharu ethnic state by the Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal. Deadly clashes have broken out between Tharu protestors with government forces repeatedly over demands. Tensions eased by June 2017 with an election looming in Tikapur. People's Freedom Party (Nepal)
The People's Freedom Party (, ''Nagrik Unmukti Party'') is a political party in Nepal. The party's primary base is in the Tharuhath region, especially Kailali district and Bardiya district. History Formation and Registration The party was formed under the coordination of Member of House of Representatives, Resham Lal Chaudhary. Due to some acts of law, he could not chair the party, so his wife was chosen as chair instead. He left his former party, the People's Socialist Party, Nepal, claiming that it had become power-centric and that it forgot the mandate provided by the people alleging that the party used it as vote bank. The Tharuhat Tarai Party Nepal () was a political party in Nepal. It was led by Bhanuram Chaudary. It merged with Nepal Loktantrik Forum in April 2017. Later the party joined Nepali Congress. The Nepal Loktantrik Forum (translation: ''Nepal Democratic Forum'') was a political party in Nepal. The party was established on April 5, 2017, after merging with the Madheshi Jana Adhikar Forum (Democratic), the Rastriya Janamukti Party (Democratic), and the Dalit Janajati Party. On October 16, 2017, Nepal Loktantrik Forum merged into the Nepali Congress. History The Nepal Democratic Forum underwent a series of frequent mergers between April and June 2017. First, the Tharuhat Tarai Party, led by Bhanu Ram Chaudhary, merged with the NLF on April 20, 2017. Tharu People
The Tharu people are an ethnic group living in the Terai in southern Nepal and northern India. They speak Tharu languages. They are recognized as an official ethnicity by the Government of Nepal. In the Indian Terai, they live foremost in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Government of India recognizes the Tharu people as a Scheduled Tribes in India, scheduled Indian tribe. Etymology The word (''thāru'') is thought to be derived from ''Sthavira nikāya, sthavir'' meaning follower of Theravada Buddhism. The Tharu people in the central Nepali Terai see themselves as the original people of the land and descendants of Gautama Buddha. Tikapur () is a Municipality in Kailali District in Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal that was established in January 1997. Tikapur Municipality was further expanded on 10 March 2017 through merger with the two former Village development committees Narayanpur and Dansinhapur. It lies on the bank of Karnali River. The Terai or Tarai is a lowland region in parts of southern Nepal and northern India that lies to the south of the outer foothills of the Himalayas, the Sivalik Hills and north of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. Limbuwan
Limbuwan is an area of the Himalayan region historically made up of 10 Limbu kingdoms, now part of eastern Nepal. Limbuwan means "Yakthung Laaje" or "Land of the Limbu speaking people". Limbuwan was incorporated into the Kingdom of Nepal by means of a collective Gorkha-Limbuwan Treaty with the kings of the ten Limbuwan kingdoms and their ministers. The ten kingdoms formed after the great revolution of Limbuwan in the 6th century. It was collectively decided to name the land by the name of "Limbuwan." The current state of Limbu nation, culture, language and ethnicity is believed to have taken shape during this period. The northern boundary was fixed to be in Tibet, the southern boundary in Jalalgarh in Bihar, the eastern boundary at the river Teesta and the western boundary at the Dudhkoshi River.
