Tharoi Ahambei Mahao
''Tharoi Ahambei Mahao'' is a 2022 Manipuri film written and produced by Ranjit Ningthouja and directed by Khoibam Homeshwori, under the banner of Home Films Manipur. It stars Silheiba Ningthoujam and Ithoi Oinam in the lead roles. The film was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, Imphal on 30 April 2022. It is based on the Shumang Kumhei of the same title. Plot The film revolves around Nganthoi, who eloped with her lover Ahenba against the wishes of her parents. They did not want Ahenba as he is not from a well-to-do family. But Nganthoi finally proved them to be wrong. Silheiba Ningthoujam is an Indian actor who appears in Manipuri films. He has won a number of accolades, including a Manipur State Film Award. The Cinema of Manipur is the film industry based in Manipur, India. It includes not only Meitei language movies but all the films made in different languages of the different communities in Manipur. The Manipuri film industry was born when ''Matamgi Manipur'' was released on 9 April 1972. Before this, there were many attempts to make a film in the state, the most significant being ''Mainu Pemcha'' in 1948 which was left incomplete due to various problems. The tradition of documentary film making in Manipur was said to have been pioneered by the late Maharaj Kumar Priya Brata Singh who shot "actuality movies" with his 8 mm camera in 1936. Shumang Kumhei
Shumang Kumhei ( mni, /sū.máŋ kūm-hə́i/), also known as Shumang Leela (), is a Meitei traditional form of theatre, usually performed in Manipur, North East India. The theatre is arranged in the form of open air from four sides. The roles are all played by male actors, some dressed as beautiful ladies. The role of male characters are played by female artists in case of female theatre groups. This traditional theatre form was prevalent since the time of monarchical rule in Manipur. But the proper form of ''Shumang Leela'' had its inception in 1895 A.D. The present day Shumang Leelas address the issues of moral values, unity and integrity. ''Awaiba Mapu'' is a 2022 Manipuri film written and produced by Ranjit Ningthouja and directed by Khoibam Homeshwori, under the banner of Home Films Manipur. It stars Bonium Thokchom and Sonia Samjetsabam in the lead roles. The film was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, Imphal on 3 July 2022. Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified the film in 2021 but was released in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Plot Ibothoi is employed by Ichaton's father as his driver, seeing his honest nature. The latter even gives assent to Ibothoi to be his son-in-law and inherit his property. This is in sharp contrast to Ichaton who is in love with Diamond. Ibothoi and Ichaton gets married but he is ill-treated by his wife. He tries all means to hide this in front of his in-laws.
