Tharjini Sivalingam
Tharjini Sivalingam (born 30 December 1978) is a former Sri Lankan veteran netball player and former skipper of the Sri Lanka national netball team, Sri Lankan national netball team. With her staggering height of 210 cm or 6 ft 10.5in, she has been recognized as one of the most successful shooters of all time and often regarded as the tallest netball player ever. She is the most capped international netball player to represent Sri Lanka. She was a regular member of the Sri Lanka national team in international netball tournaments since making her debut in 2009. She is well known for her unusually tall height and considered one of the marquee players in Sri Lankan netball history. She also faced many hardships in her childhood as she grew up in a warzone. Jhaniele Fowler
Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard (formerly known as Jhaniele Fowler-Reid or Jhaniele Fowler; born 21 July 1989) is a professional Jamaican netball player who plays for the West Coast Fever in the Suncorp Super Netball League. Fowler-Nembhard is a 5-time Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year and was named Netball Scoop's World's Best Netballer in 2021. Domestic Career Fowler-Nembhard played domestic netball in Jamaica for the Waulgrovians club. In 2011, Fowler-Nembhard was signed to play in the Australasian ANZ Championship with Australian team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on a two-year contract. Her contract was contingent on the Thunderbirds' current import, fellow Jamaican shooter Carla Borrego, on gaining Australian citizenship, and allowing the team's import spot for Fowler. 2019 Netball World Cup
The 2019 Netball World Cup (also known as the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th edition of the INF Netball World Cup. It was held from 12–21 July 2019 at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England with matches being held on two courts. Host nation England finished their campaign with a bronze medal. New Zealand became 5th time champions after beating Australia in the final and gold medal match. Sixteen nations contested for the title, which included the top six of the previous tournament which was held in Sydney, Australia. After two group stage rounds, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa all made it to the semi-finals. In a rematch of the 2015 final, New Zealand would take home their fifth title after defeating Australia by one goal. England finished in third place, after defeating South Africa. The Victorian Netball League (VNL) is a state netball league featuring teams from Victoria, Australia. The league is organised by Netball Victoria, with the modern league beginning in 2009. It replaced an earlier state league as the top level netball competition in Victoria. On a national level, the VNL is effectively a third-tier league, below Suncorp Super Netball and the Australian Netball Championships. From 2009-2011, due to sponsorship and naming rights arrangements, the VNL was known as the Holden Cruze Cup. Chathurangi Jayasooriya also spelled as Chathurangi Jayasuriya (born 10 July 1990) is a Sri Lankan netball player and the current captain of the Sri Lanka national netball team who plays in the positions of goal defense or goal keeper. She has been a regular member of the Sri Lankan team since 2011 and took over the captaincy of the national side from fellow veteran Tharjini Sivalingam in 2017. She plays in the position of goal defense and also as the goal keeper. She also currently serves as the flight lieutenant at the Sri Lanka Air Force. The 2011 World Netball Championships () was the 13th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, a quadrennial premier event in international netball. It was held in Singapore from 3–10 July. All 48 matches were played at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Singapore was chosen as the host nation at the 2007 IFNA Congress in Auckland. Sixteen nations contested the week-long tournament. Ten nations gained selection for the World Championships in five regional qualifying tournaments held from 2010 to 2011; the top five national teams from the 2007 tournament also qualified, along with host nation Singapore.
