''Thanga Meenkal'' () is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Ram in his second directorial venture after ''Kattradhu Thamizh''. The story was written by Ram and his daughter Shri Sankara Gomathy Ram, with the former, besides, played the lead role as well alongside newcomers Sadhana and Shelly Kishore. The film is jointly produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon and J. Satish Kumar under the banners Photon Kathaas and JSK Film Corporation, respectively. It follows, Kalyani a poor man who is forced to live under the shade of his father, takes up a job beyond his reach to provide his daughter a good living. Ram (director)
Ram is an Indian film director, who works in Tamil cinema. After assisting Hindi directors Rajkumar Santoshi and working under Balu Mahendra, he made his directorial debut with '' Kattradhu Thamizh'' (2007), which fetched him strong critical acclaim. His second film '' Thanga Meengal'' (2013) also won critical praise and three National Film Awards. Gautham Vasudev Menon (born 25 February 1973) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. He has also directed Telugu and Hindi films that either simultaneously shot with or remakes of his own Tamil films. 11th Chennai International Film Festival
The 11th Chennai International Film Festival took place in Chennai , Tamil Nadu, India from 12 to 19 December 2013. The event was organised by the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) with support from the Government of Tamil Nadu. The festival was curated by actress-director Suhasini Maniratnam and inaugurated by Kamal Haasan and Aamir Khan. The Japanese drama '' Like Father, Like Son'' marked the beginning of the fest. Nagercoil, also spelt as Nagarkovil ("Temple of the Nāgas", or Nagaraja-Temple), is a city and the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu state, India. Karunas (born 21 February 1970 as Karunanidhi Sethu) is an Indian actor, politician and comedian in the Tamil film industry.
