Thanet Loop
The Thanet Loop is a circular bus route which operates on the Isle of Thanet peninsula in Kent, England. It is operated by Stagecoach South East. History The route was introduced in 2004 following a grant of £447,000 from the Department for Transport and had an initial fleet of 18 buses. In 2013, 27 Alexander Dennis Enviro200 buses were purchased for the route. In 2018, the route carried over four million passengers. In 2019, a new fleet of 24 new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC buses was introduced. Route The service has a circular route which passes through Ramsgate, Margate, and Broadstairs. The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC, also marketed as the Alexander Dennis Enviro200, is a single-decker city bus produced by Alexander Dennis since 2014 as the successor to the Alexander Dennis Enviro200, Enviro200 midibus and Alexander Dennis Enviro300, Enviro300 full-size bus. The Enviro200 MMC is available over a range of lengths, including 8.9 metres, 9.7 metres, 10.8 metres and 11.5/11.8 metres, as an integral twin-axle midibus or full-size bus. Additionally, the 12.7 metre tri-axle Enviro200 XLB is offered in the New Zealand market. Westwood Cross is an open, pedestrianised shopping centre located at Westwood, Kent, England. It opened in 2005, and since 2008 has incorporated a casino, bowling alley cinema and bingo hall. History Westwood Cross is situated on the site of the former Haine Hospital, which closed in June 1997 and was demolished in 2003. Construction required filling of a deep railway cutting. Developers claimed that Westwood Cross created 1,500 jobs in the Broadstairs area. The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital is a health facility in Margate, Kent, England. It is managed by the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Broadstairs
Broadstairs () is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 (previously known as the TransBus Enviro200) is a midibus that was manufactured by TransBus International and later Alexander Dennis between 2003 and 2018. The original TransBus Enviro200 design was innovative but ultimately unsuccessful, with few being sold before the introduction of the second generation Enviro200 (originally referred to as the Enviro200 Dart) revived sales for the product from 2006. It was supposed to be positioned in between a minibus and a rigid bus, rigid single-decker bus.
