Thane Gustafson (born 1944) is a professor of political science at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., United States. He specializes in comparative politics and the political history of Russia and the former USSR. Gustafson holds degrees in both political science and chemistry from the University of Illinois, and a doctorate from Harvard University. He is a former professor at Harvard, and a former analyst for RAND Corporation. He is Senior Director of Russian and Caspian Energy for IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA). ''Mass Effect 2'' is a 2010 action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Microsoft Game Studios and Electronic Arts. It was released for Windows and the Xbox 360 in January 2010, as well as the PlayStation 3 the following year. Thane Krios
Thane Krios is a fictional character in BioWare's ''Mass Effect'' franchise, who first appeared in ''Mass Effect 2'' as a party member (or "squadmate"). The character is a drell, a race of extraterrestrial reptilian humanoids who form a sociopolitical alliance with the hanar, a sentient species of jellyfish-like entities. Thane Krios is voiced by Keythe Farley in the video game series. A notorious professional assassin, Thane may be recruited by Shepard in the planet Illium for a "suicide mission" to stop the abduction of human colonists by a mysterious species known as the Collectors. He candidly reveals to Shepard during their first meeting that he is dying of Kepral's Syndrome, a genetic respiratory disease that will ultimately lead to lung failure, but willingly joins the suicide mission.
