Christian Thams
Christian Thams (9 September 1867 – 22 May 1948) was a Norwegian architect, industrialist, businessman and diplomat. Thams was also a founder and major shareholder of Société du Madal, a Norwegian company which operated coconut oil plantations and extracted colonial taxes from the indigenous population in Zambezia, Mozambique. Background Christian Marius Thams was born in Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. His parents were Marentius Thams (1836-1907) and Emilie Christine Ullitz (1838-1916). He was educated at a school for boys in Grenchen, Switzerland and at a technical school in Holzminden, Germany. Christian Thams studied at Technikum Winterthur in Zurich, Switzerland, where he graduated in 1886. The following year, he established himself as an architect with practice in Nice and Paris. Marentius Thams
Ole Christian Marentius Thullin Thams (27 February 1836 – 26 July 1907) was a Norwegian merchant and industrialist. Biography Marentius Thams was born at Fredrikstad in Østfold, Norway. He was the son of timber trader Wilhelm August Thams (1812–1884) and Ida Olava Mandskow (1812-1889). Thams grew up in Fredrikstad and gained a commercial education, partly abroad. He first was associated with his father's lumber business in Fredrikstad. In 1859, his father's business interests were relocated to the Orkdalen region of Sør-Trøndelag. In 1867, his father founded Strandheim Brug, a sawmill and timber trade company. The primary of facilities were destroyed by fire in 1872 after which Marentius Thams took over management of the re-built operation. Jacob Tullin Thams
Jacob Tullin "Tulla" Thams (7 April 1898 – 27 July 1954) was a Norwegian Olympian, who competed in ski jumping and sailing. Career He won the first Olympic ski jumping gold medal in 1924, and became the third person (after Gillis Grafström who competed in one sport only and boxer/bobsleigh crew member Eddie Eagan) to medal in both the Winter and Summer Olympics in 1936 as a member of the silver medal-winning Norwegian 8-metre sailing team.
