Thal Nature Park
Thal Nature Park (''Naturpark Thal'' in German) is a nature reserve located in the Swiss Canton of Solothurn, bordering the cantons of Canton of Bern, Bern and Canton of Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Landschaft. The largest municipality in Thal Nature Park is Balsthal. It features the wide valley of the river Dünnern behind the Weissenstein mountain range. In 2012, the FOEN deemed the reserve a "park of national importance," a label that is effective for ten years from its instatement on January 1, 2010. Fortress ruins point to its former history as a pack route through the small town of Klus, however, today the surrounding land serves mostly agricultural purposes. The "Haar und Kamm" (hair and comb) Museum, a former comb factory, is also located in the park. Weissenstein
The Weissenstein () is a mountain of the Jura, located north of Solothurn in the Swiss canton of Solothurn. The culminating point of the chain is distinguished by the name . It is the easternmost summit above 1,300 metres in the Jura Mountains. Until the end of 2009, there was a chairlift from Oberdorf to the spa hotel on the summit near the Weissenstein Pass. It was replaced by a gondola lift at the end of 2014. The tunnel of the railway line Solothurn–Moutier from Oberdorf to Gänsbrunnen on the other side was opened in 1908. The gondola lift crosses the railway track in front of the tunnel portal at Oberdorf, which is the only setting of this kind in Switzerland. Nature is an inherent character or constitution, particularly of the ecosphere or the universe as a whole. In this general sense nature refers to the laws, elements and phenomena of the physical world, including life.
